I'm not going to pretend to know much about this Brexit thing, but I said the same thing when the Scottish Independence vote happened..What's so terrible about countries wanting to be autonomous and have complete control of themselves?

EU membership brings tremendous market access, not just for trade but for talent as well. Now the UK is going to have to renegotiate EVERYTHING, not just with Europe but with everybody. And they're going to have to do it from a position of extreme weakness, all while handling two different powerful secessionist movements.

Scotland's gonna go for it and apply for EU membership right quick. The SNP has more ammunition than they ever did before.

Sinn Fein's efforts have a few more moving parts to them, but I think we'll see a unified Ireland in the next few years.

For those of you who will lose your job over the next few weeks/months.

You can look back to this thread as to why.

....and you THINK it's all gone down the toilet and will not recover. Nobody knows what's going to happen.

The UK has a significant net trade deficit. With the devalued stirling, imports are going to be more costly.
A lot of trade relationships have been severely damaged or destroyed, who is the UK going to export goods to.
Hundreds of billions are being wiped off the FTSE.
There are going to be big companies that have to move parts of their business to the EU.

This is going to cost loads of jobs.

I think it's hilarious that accusations of being racist and xenophobic are being thrown at anyone who voted Leave. Proper chuckling at that one.

Nothing, in a vacuum. The problem is businesses pulling their capital out of England because they don't want to take a bath on the falling currency, and that's what kills the economy. That wouldn't happen in Scotland because how many huge international firms have loads invested in Scotland? Plus if they stay in the EU they would just transition to the Euro.
Seems reasonable, my question was more about a Scottish/NI exit from the UK then a EU exit
