There are many studies that prove beyond all doubt that immigrants are net contributors to the British economy. Their economic activity in the UK is wealth creative, they work here, produce and consume, thus contributing to wealth creation.

It's also wealth distributive in that they contribute to their home economies through the results of their labours here. That should be encouraged, the stronger the weaker/less resourced countries of Europe become then the stronger Europe becomes as a whole.

In terms of local infrastructure, yes I accept that causes problems, but actually the principal cause is not the presence of immigrants but the political decision to not provide sufficient funding for education, health and social services locally. We are a nation that is wealthy enough to support the infrastructure requirements of our current population and more, including immigrants, however the Government make a political decision not to provide the necessary resources. Spending on infrastructure is investment, investment in the future of our country, it's only a question of whether or not it is a political priority.

Rather a bit glib IMO. Again you are defending staying in the EU and you focus on the well being of the EU rather more than on the your own country. You talk of the benefits to the UK economy in respect of the EU workers here but that is rather a small contribution to our economy and from your own admission not all their income is spent here but rather sent back home.

As for spending I was under the impression the country was trying to climb out of a huge financial hole amount to hundreds of billions! So you are saying we do not need to repay that borrowing!

"BRITISH people should not have been allowed to stage the EU referendum because they are not wise enough to make such an important decision, Sir David Attenborough has claimed."

He wants MP's to make the decision. I wonder what remainers such as he would have said if, instead of giving the people a referendum on the EU, the MP's had just voted to leave the EU. I bet he would be saying something rather different now..........

-erm, wrong thread Bruce?
Doesn't necessarily indicate bias does it? Eg clinton could currently be avoiding questions, or Trump rushes could be aots as he's caught fondling innocents.

On the issue of apparent bias in airtime, a startup is using very accurate facial recognition software to provide real-time comparisons of airtime for various political figures. http://www.verso.to/

Right now it's 83% Trump vs 17% Clinton.

Should have said something before the vote then ffs

You would imagine it would be pretty hard to backtrack on the arrangement we've promised Nissan at the very least. I mean, the tariffs (or lack of) we've promised them aren't actually things we can promise them. Add in a quite probably similar deal for the City with passporting and that's two fairly hefty chunks of leverage the EU have over us right there.
I'm just surprised/shocked that the Eurosceptics didn't have and plans in place if they actually won the day.If they had (as their campaign pointed to) announced that the day after the referendum result they would trigger article 50 and go for a Hard Brexit. The picture would be clear and people could look forwards with confidence to the future.Instead......................

It's killing you isn't it......

Media bias is something that's been used in most recent elections/votes so I thought it was pertinent here too, especially as Trump, Farage et al regularly roll out the 'anti-establishment' line.

Not me,I've lived in continental Europe for most of my adult life, and that part of the Leave argument was the only part that made much sense to me.The EU is a large bloated machine, and the idea of the UK (the Worlds 6th largest economy) being able to make it's own deals without having to go through all the usual EU hoops seemed to make sense. Now we have a Govt dithering over the date of Article 50 ,making economically suicidal deals like Hinkley Point and Nissan in a vain attempt to stave of the inevitable.
