Because racism underpins a lot of that. Those same countries, of course, want to preserve the right of their people to live and work throughout Europe, they just don't want Muslims coming to their country.

I've said consistently throughout all of this, and certainly before the vote, that Brexit runs a big risk of bolstering the cause of far-right groups throughout Europe, and that is a cause that must be resisted.

Fine, if that's what the EU wants then they should do it. But why would that affect a trade deal ?.....it's illogical.....

It's not accountable to Scottish, Welsh or Northern Irish regional parliaments, nor any separate regions within France, Germany etc, so why does Belgium which is a much smaller country effectively get multiple vetoes ?......

Because Belgium's constitution requires these devolved parliaments to ratify the deal.

We could do exactly the same here with Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

That's our perogative.
