Bruce this is the problem if you lose a valid argument its immigration as a last resort answer maybe people who voted out just wanted control, and sovereignty back as an individual country?
Take the political union out of the EU as it was and just have a trading block with freedom to trade anywhere and thats the magic bullet but the EU want power and its not on imo!
I noticed the EU is itself a member of the WTO - yet if we deal outside some countries tariffs stop the trade!
So would you accept us retaining free movement in return for single market access?

But that's the rambling of an economically illiterate buffoon. Pluck a number out of the air double it and then continue as if fact. Someone should have told him that there is no a country on this planet the UK can't trade with and there is no produce the UK can't trade. It is just that the UK has very little manufactured goods the world wants, to buy more than they do now.

UK and Argentina trade

In 2015, Argentina was the UK’s fourth largest export market in South America. UK exports of goods were worth £289 million. This figure has fallen in recent years due to import restrictions and the slowdown in the Argentine economy.

Top 10 UK exports to Argentina are:

  • medical equipment and pharmaceuticals
  • boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances
  • non ferrous metals
  • professional and scientific instruments
  • plastics and plastic products
  • beverages
  • electrical machinery and equipment
  • chemical materials and products
  • vehicles
  • organic chemicals
Gov.UK April 2016.

The UK can trade with Argentina.

No-one has said it's a single issue.

However May has already decreed that she's not prepared to sacrifice freedom of movement for single market access - due to the electorates view.

She's therefore prepared to risk the economy due to immigration

Would you accept free movement in return for single market access?

I was responding to Bruce.....

In terms of your question, no, I would not accept free movement in return for a Market access. Nor would I accept free movement with China for Market access, nor with India nor the USA nor Brazil nor South Africa. I would like the UK to be a Sovereign country again and be treated as such. If that means we have to trade with the EU under differing trade rules then so be it..........

We are all well aware of this, thank you........

That's what we had, the four freedoms of goods, capital, services and people. That is, in a nutshell, trade.

Apart from the ones you just listed that we are selling to Argentina of course........

With the word control yes, the common market when we first joined because of no political union free movement was not an agenda they set that rule not us eg that's why the out vote won the only free movement I can remember it was easier to go abroad on holiday when we joined then we had political treaty changes and the rest is history

Back in 1973 we had immigration but not the bulk of it from the EU as there were 9 countries Bruce not 27!
here is a great google for you -

When did you first hear the term 'the four freedoms'.....I hadn't until the vote for Brexit came along....

Trade is about the sale and purchase of goods and services, only in the minds of the EU does it concern the free movement of people. If eventually the EU does a trade deal with the USA or India, there will be no mention of free movement of people.......

The Mercosur-EU trade deal negotiations have been ongoing for decades. Just one of the sticking points has been with Ireland and beef, because Argentina produces huge amounts of the stuff at lower prices so Ireland and France have been complaining. So the 4 countries of Mercosur cannot get a trade deal with the 28 countries of the EU because of an argument over beef. Can you not see how this is holding the UK back.....

"Over 100 UK companies operate in Argentina. This includes over 30 FTSE 100companies such as BT, GSK, HSBC and Unilever. There is a range of small and medium sized UK companies in Argentina".

So how is 100 uk companies operating in Argentina and UK exports of goods were worth £289 million, holding the UK back? You seem to be suggesting that because there is no 'trade deal' with the Mercosur countries is holding the UK back.Blatantly not true. Can you give a product the UK can't trade in with the Mercosur countries?

So you'd sacrifice the economy taking a nose dive in return for immigration control, hardly a surprise

I appreciate that you cannot grasp what the rest of us are on about. I also appreciate that the UK can trade all around the world with any product it wants, so why do you keep repeating the same question . I was tempted to write the next bit in capital letters for you because I know that you will not see it ...'Its all about the trade terms and tariffs'......
