Lots to worry about the future relationships with USA and us, however, the appointment of the RFK jr, is an interesting one, there are posistves, the man in charge of food standards is a big supporter of the European model of food standards, often cites our posistions.

"We have 1,000 ingredients in our food that are illegal in Europe that are illegal in other countries and they're making our kids sick," he alleged in an NBC News interview. "They're there because of corruption in our agencies."

He's not wrong about that. Food quality is far worse there.
He's wrong about pretty much everything else he says though

Damning report about the negative effects of Brexit on UK based musicians. Wonder what @oldblue2 makes of it? This is what he and the other boomers voted for after all.

Actually never mind, I’m sure his response will be another photo from him playing at the Grafton in the 70s and some boring deflection. Also did you know he’s written books about the Battle of Britain? He doesn’t like to talk about it though.

France in big trouble, will Le Pen pull the rug from under Michel Barnier economic reform and coalition. Fascinating really as economic wise, rollup paper between French far right and far left. If Le Pen does pull the rug eurozone future will be questioned.

Because, like Dave, a lot of the electorate prefer to live in a fantasy land rather than face up to reality.
Well maybe, myself not looking at this from Economic view point, never ends well.
Sad really UK could have seized this opportunity if within the EU and greatly increased influence . Still we need to stand high and proud with EU, Russia and such like no doubt already doing what they can do to disrupt will be licking their lips.

Pretty much every major western nation is running a whopping deficit, yet if either spending cuts or tax rises are put to the public they whine and moan, so the debt gets ever greater and the can kicked down the road.

On the other hand the likes of Musk Dyson Gates made their billions in western democracies, should never be allowed to accumulate such wealth, it is at the expense of others especially in ever increasing populations. Gates for all the good he does he will be undermined by the likes of Musk far easier than the good he does, laissez faire to accumulating immense wealth has a lot to answer for.

Musk is an odious turd, but he's made a big song and dance of the fact that most of his wealth is in Tesla shares. Indeed, the absurd pay deal that is currently going through the courts states as much. Obviously if he does get it then you would certainly hope it would be taxed as any other income would be, but you can't tax unrealised gains in share assets (your pension would be [Poor language removed] if you could).

Musk was lazy example on my behalf, maybe Peter Hargreaves or other, would serve better, having laissez faire attitudes in individuals attaining such wealth has consequences, not just politically but socially as well, someone got to generate wealth which is normally you and I , and if we are getting less return for our efforts and their wealth and influence strengthens, then unhappiness spreads and the ones responsible are normally the last to get the blame.

To an extent I agree, but we already have a situation whereby the richest pay a huge proportion of income tax returns. I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make either, as the deficit for this year is around £120 billion. We, along with most other western governments, are living "way" beyond our means and expecting future generations to pick up the tab.

They are also getting richer.

They are also getting richer.

Yes, generally because their companies have become more valuable. That's the crux of Musk's crazy pay deal. Rightly or wrongly, Tesla stock has gone through the roof in recent years. If he sold that stock, he'd be liable for capital gains I'd imagine.
