Again I don't see anyone on here calling for a second referendum.

Also how can a government ignore a general election? I'm aware the monarch can do such a thing but unsure as to how the government can.

Not only asking but stating there would be - along with an early election.

I only see right movement with everything they are doing...both fiscally and socially.

Socially being the biggest problem...a massive setback. @peteblue gave a pass earlier to Brits born abroad...no problem he said. I wonder how he'd feel about a 3 gen Pakistani Brit born abroad or a 4th gen Indian Brit born abroad. Wondering how 'no problem' he'd actually have with with a 2nd generation Muslim Brit born in America. I reckon that them fellas don't fit his definition of a Brit.

Strange times indeed. Overt bigotry AOTS.

You appear to see bigotry everywhere, to paraphrase Queen Gertrude "the gentleman doth protest too much, methinks"....

Heralding democracy off the back of a poll where campaigns were full of blatant lies and would have failed advertising code rules is somewhat ironic

Changing the subject slightly, do you think all of those 17m people would have voted the way they did if it was made clear that we'd definitely lose access to the single market?
Blatant lies are told by both sides during every single general election. If you want to force political groups to maintain a level of honesty I'd be all for that. Out of interest do you believe that the remain side told the truth on all issues? I very much doubt you'd of described the referendum as an opinion poll if the remain side had won. I honestly don't think many leave voters would of changed their mind on the vote based the fear that we'd lose the single market. Neither you or I know enough to say we will definitely lose it. We can only guess at this stage, or take the words of sound bite politician's flexing their muscles.

Strangely enough, I believe if the vote was redone again tomorrow that 17.4 M would probably get closer to 20 M as 'project fear' has been shown to be a disgraceful fabrication.........

See, this situation is what is wrong with politics in general, and I say this irrrspective of party allegiance - when Gordon Brown took over without being elected, Theresa May was among those claiming "we need a general election".

Now she has taken over, "there's no need for an election".

They all need to grow up. Overgrown schoolchildren the lot of them. As @Bruce Wayne said the other day, total farce in U.K. politics.

Tbf, I think she is doing the Labour party a massive favour as they would be completely destroyed at the moment.......

I did say campaigns plural mate.

Albeit my view is that Leave told blatant untruths, Remain used hyperbole which cost them credibility.

Fear of losing single market access wasn't what I asked. I asked if it was made a definitive choice.

Sure mate. The pound crashing is a figment of our collective imaginations.

The economic predictions made were based on article 50 being invoked the 'next day' which is the pledge made by Cameron.

Given we've done nothing as yet, stating that those predictions were fabrication is completely disingenuous

I really don't like this kind of insinuation, and I mean in general, not just about brexit. Just because you share a common view on one thing with an undesirable person or group does not mean you share all their views.

Hitler was a vegetarian. I guess that makes all vegetarians nazis.

I'm a vegetarian and this disgusts me. I vehemenently disagree with Hitler on one or two points

Whilst the fall in the pound is certainly concerning, and certainly linked to brexit, the High Frequency Trading algorithms work in very mysterious ways. The fact some operate based on news content and social interaction means they can most definitely not always be acting properly and reflecting the mood in the market.

So you don't believe that anything that Osborne said were untrue or exaggerated for effect........including the 'emergency budget'.........

Given the decision to leave the EU is based on the will of the people as determined through a referendum, I'd be fascinated to hear the argument for not allowing the people to decide by referendum whether or not the terms for leaving (when negotiated) are acceptable or not.

A 4 month trend isn't the work of algorithms and it's absolute folly to suggest otherwise
