This is the problem with remainers. Somehow they think we need to be part of the Eu for defence. We don’t. no one is going to invade the U.K. before first taking over the whole of the EU. Even then we sit on an island with enough defensive capability and our own nuclear umbrella to give anyone a bloody nose. Remainers use anything to say we must rejoin the EU, well guess what, we don’t…….

Did you read the article mate?

Possibly the most odious UK politician I have met

I take it you never met Boris.

If you read one thread today, read this one, this is the son of a kgb agent that Johnson ignored intel concerns in to make a lord.

Sad though it is as a collection of countries like the Uk has decided not to be part of the EU, the EU benefits from not having a leader like Boris Johnson involved and the obvious concerns involved. Russia are in deep in the UK, in their infrastructure and institutions, in this sense Brexit is a benefit for the EU.

You'd think with a name like Boris hed make it less obvious. lol

No, never had the privilege :) . I am just baffled at how large populations elect these people.

I worked closely with Micheal Martin and Mary Harney in the DOH over 5 years. I might not agree with them politically, but I found them very respectful and intelligent. Martin seems to have moved to a new level as Taoiseach.

Glad to be retired but a heck of a roller coaster career.

What you don't seem to get though is that there is simply no one better :hayee:

Politicians like Farage, Johnson and Trump have cottoned on to the polarisation in the dumbing down of society in my view and play on it - this deabte about the EU is a case in point, leave or remain - i mean it was never that simplistic or polarised but people fell for it. These people connect and the simplest level of logic and human need, they've been aided by social media in my view and have manipulated it. Most people know these people for their profile now, rather then a political policy or philosophy. Cult of celebrity as it were. The scary thing is theere is no substance behind it, no motivation for betterment or to serve society, its all about power at any cost by any method, thats the play by whatever means to attain and keep it.

Id have a lot of time for DO'M & Harney and the P.D's. They've really left a vacuum in politics for me as an alternative,. Where we are heading now is down the same polarised route that we see in other countries now - you can see it with SF.

Mary Lou has brought SF to a new level. She has an intelligence that is starting to convince middle of the road voters . Over 30% with FF and FG in the 20s
