Apart from you, and the Tories, and Farage, are you able to point at any of these fair-minded commentators who think we are doing so well?

I don't know if you have taken off your facemask yet in crowded places, but it does surely seem time to take off those rose tinted spectacles.

You really need to relax. Put away your political bias and look at where we are . We’re doing ok….

Er...the executive has collapsed because of the border down the Irish Sea meaning that ALL legislation/budgets/planning etc in the middle of a health crisis (that won't have made the news on the mainland) has been shelved, goods are delayed, things are more expensive because of increased admin caused by the Irish Sea Border, suppliers won't post to NI or charge extortionate postage, unionists are moving to the extremes and baddies are digging up the guns again. Is that enough to be going on with? It's all going swimmingly! ?

Pete,. What is driving the current blip is purely down to domestic consumption because UK citizens are getting out and about again.

Once that stabilises post pandemic, the UK export economy will face the stark reality of an EU that will impose tariffs on any UK export. A loss of 500 million tariff free customers is madness.

Where is the UK going to replace that?

No EU countries are reliant on UK exports, although Ireland is seriously compromised regarding our agricultural exports to the UK. Our exporters have been very busy seeking new markets since the Brexit vote, but huge damage has been done.

Hopefully the expanding Asian market for high protein meats will soften things.

As previously posted, the EU Commission was so annoying as a Civil Servant - glad to be retired. However you need to be in there fighting them. You don't go off in a hissy fit.

Mate, I really pray that things stay peaceful.

If elections go ahead as planned, what's your gut feeling about the likely results?

You miss the point that the Eu sends more to the U.K. than the other way around. So any tariffs actually work to the UK’s advantage….Meanwhile we are adding, not replacing, to our exports…….

I am in the South but the indications on both sides of the border are that SF has swept aside the traditional Nationalist parties. Unionism seems to be all over the place.

Mary Lou McDonald is wiping the floor with FF, FG and Labour in the Republic. Head and shoulders above anyone else in the Dáil.
