What I cannot understand - perhaps some of the Brexit advocates can answer - is if you voted for Brexit and had an expectation about what that would look like, are you happy with how Brexit is being implemented?

Because it seems rather like the entire "top team" of Brexit seem more intent on "riling remainers" than actually realising any sensible Brexit policy. Rees-Mogg is a complete joke as a Brexit minister - he is not a credible person but he is now leading the UK search for Brexit opportunities (or crowdfunding it based on recent activity).

It's in everyone's interest for this to be as painless as possible - so I'm surprised more aren't questioning the progress and implementation some months on.

Are you happy with progress/what has currently been delivered/direction of travel or was winning simply the goal and you've moved on now?

I think I'd be pretty annoyed if having voted for Brexit, a massive shift in UK political direction, the party I'd voted to "get it done" treated it as a joke.

I have left this tread but can't see anyone else that will answer you.
I am not happy how it has been handled, and as I have previously said if it was Boris as pm or staying in the EU I would have on retrospect voted to stay.
There dosnt seem to be a clear path on offer from the government at all on the issue,
I expected myself ,it would take years to fully unravel the UK from the EU and there would be bumps along the way, but we're and what is the direction this government taking us?
I don't know and it looks like they don't either.
It's been a complete mess and I as a leave voter cannot say any different in truth.
My feeling on membership of the EU hasn't changed as a personal viewpoint, but if on balance you are asking me has it been a success up to now and handled in a decent manner the answer has to be no it hasn't , (although it not all one sided on that that score).
Forgive me for popping in and out again , but Pete seems to be the only leaver posting at the moment and I felt your post deserves a reply.

Thanks appreciate the answer.

I think it's perhaps unfair, despite what some claimed would be immediate benefits, to expect instant changes (and hopefully benefits).

I do however do not think it's unreasonable to have mapped out the direction we want the UK to go based upon the agreements we have signed.

I'm yet to see that. What has been seen is complaints about the constraints of agreements we signed and lauded, ridiculous pandering gestures (see the Rees-Mogg standards issue this week and freeports) and promises about "greatness" that have no substance.

I know one of the big questions prior to the vote and subsequently was "what are you taking back control of exactly and why?" and a lot of answers to that question were supposed to be realised (or at least understood) once we left.

Yet here we are still moaning about a WA we signed, still moaning about the EU holding us to our agreements, still making silly gestures in favour of actual policy and crowd funding ideas from newspapers (perhaps already covered under silly gestures).

First time I've looked in this thread for around 6 months, and I'm not sure what compelled me to do so today. But I'm glad I did as I'd like to endorse everything you said there mate. I'm not going to add any of my own thoughts as I don't want to get into a discussion on the subject. Just wanted to say I agree 100%.

Fair play to both of you for expressing your opinion
but...
All that post said to me was 'I trusted Cameron to do it properly but Johnson is making a mess of it', thing is tho, Cameron is exactly the same as Johnson, just a bit more polished.
You not only voted to leave, you voted for tories to take you out. If you didn't trust the tories to handle it properly, you should have voted remain.

And all this post said to me is that you completely ignored my comment saying I don't want to get into a discussion on the subject. Please don't bother to reply to this.

My initial post, was a reaction to what I perceive as a disregard for leave voters.

I know that there are some zealots who are sting clinging onto the idea that we will reverse Brexit - we won't (at least not for a long time because the appetite in the UK and the EU is not there).

But, the entire Brexit policy seems to be focused on three things:

Complaining about the WA and EU deal
Ridiculous policy based on nostalgia, fantasy and nationalism
Culture wars and inventing ghost enemies to distract from a lack of strategy

Given we are where we are and we have a Government with a 80 seat majority - I would've expected something more convincing in terms of strategy and direction. There seems to be nothing.

Back to how many cubic inches in a gallon and all that? Can't be true.
Just remember 20 grains in a scruple, 3 scruples in a dram and 8 drams in an ounce, 16 ounces in an Avoirdupois Weight pound, 12 ounces in a Troy Weight pound, and 12 ounces in a pound of Apothecaries' Weight. Or, if it's easier, there are 24 grains in a pennyweight, and 20 pennyweight in an ounce. I hope that's clear. So looking forward to having my 454g jar of jam labelled 1lb again.
