British citizens are now 3rd country citizens - says it all doesn't it.

another regulation coming into force next week, drivers of vans and towers of large trailers with UK registrations will have an additional special licence to disembark in EU countries.

oh well, the majority voted for it.

Brexiteers will use that as evidence of the EU’s bureaucratic overreach, which is a bit nuts.

While accepting that we're something of a lost cause, it is quite sad to see Brussels deploying quasi nationalist rhetoric lately, albeit with "Europe" being the in group and everyone else the out group.

It, incidentally, borrows a lot of the rhetoric from Douglas Murray's frankly absurd book on the so-called death of Europe from brown people.

Denmark has kinda said no Muslims, the Baltic states have been quite overt in their anti-immigration stance, and obviously the Visegrad four have long-standing issues in that regard. It's quite sad to see what is pretty overtly conservative doctrine become more standardised across Europe.

Does anyone know anyone who voted for Brexit apart from the now departed . Piss crusted fart biscuit neighbours or Kev down the pub types coz I’m in Tory paradise here and they arent too clear and present here.

Had a Christmas lunch and bevvies with my senior management team, all intelligent professional types. I can’t remember how the subject came up but we got on to Brexit.

The 3 senior bods all said they voted out, with me being the only remainer. I was genuinely amazed that these intelligent individuals had voted this way. Having had a few I chose to ask them why. They all said that they thought it was about different issues, with none having a clear idea of what they wanted from it…..immigration levels was the only common thread.

When I suggested that Brexit was a hugely complex issue requiring strategic long term consideration as to how it would be implemented, just like any strategic business decision we might take, they all agreed.

When I then asked if any of the politicians who had convinced them to vote for Brexit had demonstrated any such thinking, they unanimously agreed that they hadn’t and that they had voted for a thing, a protest movement, rather than a defined outcome.

They all also agreed that the current Government were incapable of delivering a benefit from Brexit, that it would negatively impact our future and that they would now definitely vote differently or abstain.

Not a huge sample size I agree, but I think generally indicative of people’s motivation and lack of understanding as to what they were actually voting for.

The only defenders now left standing and presenting Brexit as a good thing, are die in a ditch nut jobs.
