Visa were doing this before Brexit…

I don't know about credit, but my UK Visa Debit, when going to German cash machines was always a very low fee. Now, I will add a caveat that I haven't used it over here (at a cash machine) for a few years and I think I had to use it once last year but all good, no extra charges other than conversion rates.

However, banking in general. I have to send money back to my UK account fairly regularly. Early January I tried and it failed, the bank advised me it was directly because of Brexit. I am able to use intermediary apps to transfer from Germany to UK now, luckily I am technically savyy to have apps and get around the larger fees and blockages but not all are and it can affect peoples lives.

Brexit is a pain in the arse and there is absolutely no logical reason for it to happen, especially when considering the people that are affected by these changes.

Should get one of these new 'Sovereignty Cards' mate, they're the new Amex I hear.

Barclays are closing personal accounts for eu based citizens even if you have a British passport etc. Lots of little things making it more and more difficult to live in the eu now which is a massive shame for lots of people, especially the younger generation.
Brexit boys don’t care about such things though as they’re no longer ruled by unelected bureaucrats and there’ll be no conscription into the eu army,

It is a shame, but the U.K. did everything it could to maintain some form of financial equivalence and Passporting rights only to be forever told by the EU that they needed more information, we must have more information.

If you have an address within the U.K. they will not close the account I understand. If you live permanently in the EU and have no U.K. address then surely it is sensible to have an account in whichever country you live anyway.

But the U.K. must be ‘punished’ by the EU so a common sense approach to equivalence is kicked into touch…..

Common sense approach or preferential treatment? Honest question: Are the EU asking more of the UK than other non-EU countries? I don't know the answer but if they are, the European court are pretty hot on these types of discrimination.

But a slight difference between non-Eu and a country that’s just spent the best part of half a century aligning laws and financial oversight. Why do we give EU preferential treatment in fishing in U.K. waters, we don’t allow anyone else to do so……

We’ve stopped offering IM to a lot of EU nationals as in most cases we’d have to apply for a banking licence in each jurisdiction. That’s besides the marketing and solicitation rules.

I’m sure things will be in place eventually but it’s a mess of our own (our being the government) doing.

There is no incentive for the EU to pander really, especially as they want market share from London.

In Protocol news, the spokesman for Loyalist Paramilitaries in NI, who only 3 months ago stated that Irish ministers and Officials ‘were not welcome’ north of the border has landed a plum job. Now a Board Member of the Agri-food and Bio-sciences Institute (Afbi) on £412 per day.

He declared no political interests and no ‘conflict of interest that could bring the organisation into disrepute’.

The DUP agriculture minister refused to comment on the appointment to the board that he oversees.

This ladies and gents is exactly who the Tories are in bed with in all things Protocol related.

Scum bags the lot of them.

If you live in an EU country you need a bank account in the UK if any of your income is from the UK.
Many pension providers will not pay directly into a euro account in an EU country.
Fortunately this does not apply to the state retirement pension, they pay in euros to my French bank account, good exchange rate too.

Difficult if your only UK bank account is with barclay. Several other UK banks do allow account to clients who only have an Eu address.
Problem is that you can only open an account with them if you are UK resident.

If there is a recipricol tax agreement they can, and do. Its just that most folk, clients and pension company staff, dont know they can.

That is why your state pension can be paid into your French (?) bank account in the local currency.

Was a genuine question. No agenda on this point. Britain left and were clearly told a billion times that they would be treated as a non-EU country, which makes sense. If they're treating us differently to other non-EU countries, then I do have a problem with that. As far as fishing goes, I would assume that was discussed and agreed.

As I say, no agenda on this point. My agenda is that no one gave a toss about NI (something like 80+% said they'd sacrifice NI to get Brexit done. It has a very real potential to kick off here. Lives will be lost if it does. Might seem like a simple 'in or out' issue where you are. Bit more serious here.

They usually disguise the payoffs as "community" projects. Take some money to 'not cause trouble'. Very old tactic. Been used for centuries too!

Of course but Frost and Johnson and the rest of the Orcs are using ‘tension in NI’ as a bargaining tool with the EU whilst blocking legislation to actually provide stability to Stormont (if a party resigns the parliament can stand for 6 months before election).

In other words, walk out of government if you wish but the train stays on the tracks.

Facilitating the St Andrews Agreement (that they demanded credit for) would fatally wound the Tory bargaining position but why would we ever expect them to tell the truth and own it.

Absolutely! It's so ludicrous! They campaigned for Brexit then....hang on! We don't like THIS Brexit! Boris (who threw them under a bus) tells them that he never meant to abide by the agreement anyway. They believe it (lol) and make loads of posters and paint a lot of messages on walls about borders and stuff. All a lot easier than admitting they were idiots who overplayed their hand and were ultimately, the fall guys. Meanwhile, Britain's integrity is trashed. Imagine believing ANYTHING Johnson says. It would actually be funny if it wasn't so precarious.
