Let's put it this way. As soon as Brexit was announced, Canada, Australia and New Zealand again stepped up to offer support and trade deals. I prefer the company of friends and true allies.......
That's like your kids supporting you though? They were part of you ffs, of course they'll support you, what did you expect?

"Oh hi mum, nah we won't help, do one you old lizardwoman"?

There isn't a country in the world that wouldn't screw us over for their benefit. That goes for EU and commonwealth countries. And the same is true of the UK.

Your overly romantic view of some horrific empire the Brits once had going is strange and pointless.

Nitpicky, this, even if mathematically correct.

Check which countries sent how many airmen - none did more than the Poles. In times of war you can't really expect them to send in 500,000 soldiers/airmen/what have you, especially while being occupied?

Not nitpicky, it's factually correct, and davek shouldn't have made the bland statement in the first place if he could not back it up by facts and/or statistics.

And the Poles were not 'sent'. After fighting the Luftwaffe in September 1939, many of them made their way to France and fought against the Luftwaffe again in the Western Campaign in the Spring of 1940. As that campaign drew to a conclusion, they made their way to England and were taken into the RAF, some to newly constituted Polish squadrons, others to individual RAF squadrons. Those countries over-run by Germany had flyers who made their way to England to continue fighting; it was countries like Canada, Australia & New Zealand who 'sent' aircrew to the UK.

They are totally independent countries. We do however have a common language and similar values that seem to last the test of time. But yes, I would always regard them as family........

First use of concentration camps in the Boer, partitioning of India, the rape and murder of the Mau Mau, inaction during the famines in Ireland and India..

Yeah these people must all love us.

Hmm, the world's 10th, 13th and 54th largest economies, each in different time zones, thousands of miles away versus a single market including the 4th, 6th, 8th and 12th largest economies, on our door step, the same time zone (+1 hour) and agreed terms and conditions of trade.

Which one seems the best option?

For lamb. New Zealand.

For cars and shizz, kind of agree.

There are some figures knocking about, giving the current wealth of some of the Commonwealth countries, and the growth of the likes of Nigeria and india in the next decade that dwarf the EU, might be worth taking up with them again, Nigeria has said they are looking hopefully to do more with us in the future, suppose there are a few more out there when we are free.

To be fair to Pete - for the most part it's probably true. Countries he listed will jump in to help Britain when they see beneficial (as in the case).
