If you don't know why the UK went to war then fair enough, and if you do know then It deserves a better response than a smiley face.....
Is that what I asked you, Peter?

To quote your best bumbuddy Joey - what's with that chip on your shoulder?

Your statement was indeed worthy of the several LOL responses it got, not only from me.

If you wish to have a sensible conversation, fine. If you don't and the only response you have to a reason for Britains declaration of war is a smiley, then fine, but not with me....

Exactly where did anyone write this ?.....do you just use any words thrown together in any order and pretend that it was a quote.......
Indeed foreign nationals, members of Britains Empire, came to the aid of the Uk in wars and I have absolutely no problem in any of those countries having appropriate access to the UK. I don't remember many East Europeans coming to our aid though....
This is what he meant I believe, even if it is definitely not what it said.

Also lol again at that "I don't remember them coming to our aid" - several reasons for that. One - you did the exact opposite by invading most of us, or trying to; declaring war on some of us, or tried to; distance of literally all across Europe; and the fact we were already part of the bad guys.

In fact, during WW1, be weird if any of Eastern Europe/Balkans was much of anything to anyone - we were just done with the First Balkan War, but that's not a point to take I guess.

You regard such a stance as crass, why ?, because you don't agree with it ?

I have stated many times that I have no problem at all with controlled immigration, but the idea that any EU nationals, in whatever numbers, can just turn up is ridiculous.

We have planning regulations for a reason. It's the reason why the Uk does not resemble 3rd world countries.

I notice you missed out the bit where I referenced it to your own home. Why did you ignore that part ?

That's because we gave them up to Hitler ffs. Many Poles, Czech's, Slovaks and other nationalities fought with Britain against fascism, and Benes based his country's resistance from London. That you're so ignorant of this does you a great disservice. Thankfully there are more Nicky Winton's of this world than there are Peteblues.

As for my own home, I've welcomed an Eastern European migrant into it and she's enriched it enormously.

Not with that, the stupid comment you made is what provoked the smiley face in question.

"If you wish to have a sensible debate" - then I guess I'm talking to the wrong person for that, aren't I? Seeing as you'll twist and turn everything I write to suit your agenda, or completely miss any point ever to pick on a single word/phrase used, then cry out when people do the same to you.

By that I mean - I like you, Pete, you're a good lad, but damn me if you're not a condescending tit in this thread.

"...By the end of the war, around 19,400 Poles were serving in the Polish Air Force in Great Britain and in the RAF..."

During the Second World War, the RAF reached a total strength of 1,208,000 men and women, of whom 185,000 were aircrew. About 70,000 RAF personnel were killed.

I don't see 19,400 as being almost half of 1,208,000, davek.

Nitpicky, this, even if mathematically correct.

Check which countries sent how many airmen - none did more than the Poles. In times of war you can't really expect them to send in 500,000 soldiers/airmen/what have you, especially while being occupied?

I am fully aware of who fought on who's side, and in what numbers during WW2. Personal abuse is below what I thought you were made of, apparently I was wrong.

As for my own home, I've welcomed 2 Eastern European migrants, and both enriched it enormously. But that has nothing to do with the point I made and to which you will not answer......

Yet Canada, Australia and New Zealand etc, just volunteered. Yet they can't just come to the UK to live and work.....
