The difference is that you look at the little picture. You pronounce on a lot of subjects on this site. I would like to think that you actually know what you're on about but if your nonsense on this subject is anything to go by I fear that you are just a wum, I really do...

I’m sorry you feel that way, but I have thought exactly the same regarding yourself…..

This was from the beginning a ‘clever’ attempt by Varadkar and the Eu to paint NI into a corner. That stupid cow May walked straight into the trap. The U.K. will always follow the law and deals. But if a deal is not working, both sides need to address it so that it works for us all. It’s a win/win requirement not a win/lose scenario…..
lol

But win / win is what Boris et al said we had. You admit that the deal “needs to work for us all” and acknowledge that currently it doesn’t. Yet how is that I wonder when it was a triumph according to our PM only a few short months ago?
I believe that is nothing to do with Varadkar and everything to do with Boris’s way of governing.
Again I ask you, if a deal “ needs to work for us all” presumably you would be happy with all of our new trading partners tearing up deals unilaterally as they didn’t scrutinise them properly and they’re not getting quite what they thought they would?

To be honest, I'm curious as to how Pete thinks "going WTO" would help matters either tbh.

I am fully of the opinion that if a deal isn’t working for both parties then the deal should be amended or ripped up. Boris has undoubtedly cocked this one up, due no doubt for a variety of reasons, but that doesn’t mean that it now shouldn’t be amended. Personally, if this petty and vindictive approach to the application of the protocol continues, and the EU persist in not recognising the Sovereignty of the whole of the U.K. then I would rip up the whole agreement…..

The EU needed a deal with the U.K. as much as the U.K. wanted one. The EU painted May into a corner and she fell for it. There is no doubt the U.K., May and Boris screwed this up. So once all the political pointing of fingers has taken place and we do the sackcloth and ashes, we are still left with a major problem because of this Protocol. It needs amending, but the EU say NO. So instead of a win/win we have a win/lose which is unsustainable. The only thing that would get through to the EU is a lose/lose scenario or the threat of one. WTO is obviously not as good as an FTA, although it would at a stroke regain our Sovereignty.…..

The EU, and I’m talking about the bureaucratic body, not Europe, is doing exactly what I said it would. It’s overplaying it’s hand and acting as if it were a United States of Europe and is picking fights even within itself. I see it’s now looking to have a military mission in Libya. Russia has always been a pain, but usually if left alone and you don’t poke it we get along, but we now have two dangerous bodies in the world, the CCP and the EU, both of whom are striving to be seen as superpowers. One will undoubtedly come into contact with the USA in the next year or two and the other will do similar with Russia. I want nothing to do with it

Anyway, about the protocol Pete...

If two parties make an agreement, tell everyone how great it is and a few months later one changes it’s mind but the other doesn’t, the one that wants to stick to what was agreed just a few months ago, isn’t being “petty and vindictive “ it’s being straightforward and honourable. The other ? Well, you decide.
