He was late locking down. We all know this......a bit like China was late letting the world know about its little virus...but you seem to blame him also for any deaths in Scotland, Wales and NI, which have figures broadly in relation to size and were all managed separately. But strangely you never mention them because they are not Tory. I’m sure he will put his hand up after all this is sorted in respect of England’s numbers.....
So he is responsible for tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths?

Good. We got there in the end.

No, that would be the Chinese.....
So, again, you believe that Johnson is not responsible for tens of thousands of deaths in this country?

You know that the only way you can ever make any critique of the LP credible is by being equally critical of the Tories, dont you?

If you're not willing to do that your pov isn't worth considering.

The day Pete acknowledges that his dear leader Bojo the Clown could put a foot wrong is the day the sky turns red and judgement is upon us.

Put yourself in the PM’s position. A Chinese virus, as usual, is heading our way. A number of countries are starting to see increasing cases. China hides the real issue and the scale of the problem which had been going on for months, but again they had said nothing. Now you have a decision, on the one hand some are saying we are all going to die and lock everything down (Davek was arguing it was no worse than the flu upto the end of Feb and that it was being overblown), while others were saying if you lock down you will kill the economy and more people will die. What do you do ? Even with everything you know now, really what would you have done. Lockdown and ruin the economy or wait and see ?.....

It does nobody any favours calling a virus Chinese

Also, there's evidence of covid popping up in various places pre-January 2020. It could've quite easily come from anywhere.

Even if you somehow thought his shambolic response to Covid was fantastic (he even happily went around shaking hands and landed himself in hospital the utter buffoon), he has been a shocking PM in almost every other category. The fact that you have found nothing to criticise him for is a running joke in this forum Pete, that's all I was referencing

Tbh he hasn’t had a chance to doing anything yet, After he took over it was getting the EU deal agreed, then we were straight into Covid. That’s been a game of two halves, the first half eminently forgettable by pretty well everyone involved, and the second half where everyone has played a blinder. I would criticise him for being far too soft and accommodating to the EU, but in respect of Covid I’m not sure I’d have done anything differently.....

Lol ok Pete.

Countries far closer to China managed to lock down and employed a zero-covid policy rather than aiming to 'take it on the chin' whilst letting it 'pass through the population'. During this time, Johnson was telling people to ignore it believing it'd simply go away, insisted on shaking hands with everyone during a hospital visit, and missed five COBRA meetings whilst other countries were preparing. Vietnam has a considerably higher population with a greater overall population density, and are sitting on 35 Covid deaths.

The report that came out in 2016 warned that we were nowhere near ready in case such an event should happen, and the government completely ignored it. Regardless of the efficiency of the vaccine rollout, the fact we're sat on 126,000 deaths and counting means that the high ground cannot be taken and no victory can be claimed - especially when medical professionals were crystal clear about the negative externalities arising from a late lockdown.

With regards to the 'Chinese virus', I suggest you do some research into the shocking rise in hate crimes against those of South-East Asian heritage in the UK as a consequence of this immature and dangerous rhetoric.
