Had a video meeting with my client today. He’s the chairman of a major UK company. Small talk at the start of the meeting about Covid moved on to Brexit, wow, cue major outpouring of full on anger.

“A load of useless ‘kin politicians playing with really important stuff they don’t understand. Anybody involved in, or depending on, import or export must be worrying about their business right now. It’s going to take a long, long time for this to play out and then get fixed by someone that understands the damage that’s been done.” Loads of other stuff, none remotely complementary.

An Italian supplier on the call explaining the severe delays and challenges Brexit was causing them did little to calm things down.

If the people that run the big businesses, that employ us plebs are seriously worried. Perhaps it ain’t such a whizzo idea after all ?

It should be compulsory to put Brexit voters at the top of any redundancy list directly caused by the cult’s “sovereignty” crusade.

And it should compulsory to not give any pay rises to Remainers in companies that do well in the Brexit environment...

That likelihood ain’t gonna bother too many industrial tribunals.

The person I met today has built his global business over many years and is someone who’s name you would no doubt recognise.

His businesses do multi million £ investment deals across various industries.

I think he knows what he’s talking about and his verdict was that we are Donald Ducked for years to come - “until someone who understands the damage done can fix it.”

Petty.
And why exactly does the EU need 143 ‘diplomatic missions’ around the world? If I needed help in a foreign country I’d go to the British embassy. I would expect a Dutch person to go to the Dutch embassy, etc etc. Another example of a colossal waste of EU taxpayers money, but a very nice gravy train to be on.

It‘s just another case of putting together the elements of being a single country, flag, currency, law, embassies...army next...and it won’t stop until its the United States of Europe....

There are no separate embassies for England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland around the world, there is just the U.K.. The EU have a choice, have an EU embassy and get rid of the other 27, or have the 27 and get rid of the EU one. The same should happen at the UN and G7 etc....

Why wouldn't it need 143 diplomatic missions? Why is the UK the only exception to the rule?

Unfortunately, just because we left the EU doesn't mean it ceases to exist. It operates as a single entity in many instances.

The USA doesn’t have embassies for each state, California has the Fifth largest GDP in the world but no embassies. The EU needs to make up its mind, either be one country or be 27 countries. If it is the latter then it shouldn’t stride the world as if it were a country......

Just experienced my first 'issue' with the EU, for this very website.

Having to buy a pretty expensive piece of software.

Anyway, when buying;

* Please choose the billing location. We collect VAT within the EU in accordance with the tax laws.

If I select EU Individual/Citizen I get slammed with;

NOTE: In accordance with EU VAT laws, a 24% VAT is applied

If you're an individual outside the EU, you can process the order at 0%.

Seems odd to force EU Citizens/Individuals to pay 24% VAT? o_O

Dare I think for one moment here I'm actually getting some benefit here from being outside the EU? Yikes.
