In fairness, you telling Pete to believe an article written in the Independent is no different to him asking you to believe a story written in the Mail. Both are heavily biased newspapers that play to their customers.

Very difficult to find a truly none partisan media outlet these days.
Fair enough. The article was about this King's College Study on Brexit perceptions, not an Independent opinion piece.

As it says, 42% of people believed we sent £350m a week to EU.

64% of Conservative Leave voters believed it and 65% of Labour Leave voters believed it.

So clearly "every thinking man and his dog" (as Pete put it) didn't know they were talking about the gross figure. Unless @peteblue is saying the majority of Leave voters are not "thinking men"?

From the Cummings Spectator article:

This also shows how volatile the situation was right until the end and how few prominent eurosceptics even then understood that a) the £350 million / NHS argument was necessary to win and b) their ‘go global’ message was a total loser

£350m/NHS argument was a lie (wasn't £350M, wasn't all going to the NHS) therefore he has admitted whether knowingly or not that a lie was necessary for Leave to win.

Good article that, interesting reading.

;)

She’d make a great regular in our pub. We do have one who looks a bit like her but she is rubbish at maths.....

She wasnt a regular, but one summer afternoon got absolutely wasted in the garden with a number of younger chaps. Maybe they were her daughters friends, if so, the daughters were at home prepping the BBQ......

So Cummings hasn’t admitted saying it was a lie, it’s an interpretation. So you saw through it but the likes of myself and other Leavers didn‘t have your brain power or political perception. Remainers are a wonderful superior breed aren’t they. Oh, and the one thing that paper is not, is Independent....
But Pete you have said you did see through it? You said you knew it wasn't the real figure as you knew we didn't send £350m a week to the EU. You chose to vote leave for your own reasons and I get that.

But a lot of people bought the lie and Cummings has said it was "necessary" for the victory. Cummings hasn't admitted to lying, he has admitted that something which is demonstrably a lie was vital to Brexit.

It was clever. It was clever because it was positive, whereas everything from the Remain camp was negative, emergency budgets etc etc. If they had put £250M it would have had the same effect. You are concentrating on the number, whereas the message was that we can do what we want with our money......

I'm concentrating on it being a lie. Maybe £250m would have the same effect but if that's the case why didn't they go with the real figure? Would have saved them a lot of bother

They went with the figure produced by the OBR stating the amount of money paid by the U.K. to the EU as if on a weekly basis.

here is the bus....

The £350 million a week is correct. Nowhere does it say spend £350M per week on the NHS....

About 3 weeks before the referendum he was talking about the £350M on TV

I didn’t say we did. The OBR provided a number from which a weekly number was derived. I doubt that footballers get paid £100,000 a week. They probably get paid £xM per year and get paid monthly......
You did in your previous post. Regardless if it is a weekly figure or a yearly figure divided by 52, £350m is a lie. We sent around £250m a week as you also acknowledged in an earlier post. We at no point were liable to send the EU £350m a week, it is a lie and one that has been shown to be a lie over and over again.

Just think what we could have done with the £140 billion that has been wasted through brexit preparation and lost growth.
