To a large extent, yes. Just as they're largely powerless to do much against the anti-democratic behaviours of Hungary and Poland. It's always been more about carrot than stick.

This is a good video I think. Instead of focusing on what can’t be changed, gives warnings for what to expect and watch out for in the future. Expect to see most people rolling out lines like ‘both sides lied’ or ‘all politicians lie’ as a way of excusing this behaviour and keeping the lack of accountability rolling on.

Interesting you left out the next paragraph saying "The two nations will sign a deal that replicates the existing trading terms between Ankara and London,". So no change then.

Apparently we are hopeful of a future bespoke deal so let's when/if that arrives and what form it takes before patting the government on the back.
