So the cliff edge turned into nearly £900Bn of trade agreements, with countries around the world and with the Eu. Bring on the next deals, vaccinate the population and get on and grow our economy......

I see that the SNP have quickly found another grievance, seed potatoes. The EU will not allow their export to the EU and it’s worth a few tens of millions to Scottish farmers. So of course the SNP insist that this Westminster and Tory sell out and betrayal of Scottish farmers needs Scotland to become independent......
Seed potatoes based in Scotland was set up under licence before the EU existed to rid Potato bliight is bounded a licence from them to farm them as they are verified clean desease stock grown on a farming scale commercially under a paid licence .....
If the EU decide to grow there own I hope they adapt to clean free varieties of potato stock .... In my Hoticulture days Scotland was the main scientific research centre which kept records of who grew what & could only be granted under licence by them or farmers got fined if they propagated their own potato stock as they are easily propagated.,...

I was looking at their website earlier, seems quite an interesting science and as you say a detailed verification process.....

I've spent the day building a tree house for my children, so would someone be able to objectively tell me what we've signed up for.

Are we being buggered or is this a mutual hand job?

Mutual hand job. EU have done well, UK have done - all things considered - pretty well too, considering the panic mode.

I don't know the full ins and outs but both sides seem to be saying pretty much the same things.

It's probably as good as could be hoped for with the people we have in charge. That Turing scheme probably won't get a lot of attention, but seems like a very good scheme (should of course it come to fruition - time will tell on that).

A Turing scheme already exists and has done for a few years, but I think it was aimed at Doctoral students. If the new intent is to give students a year abroad in universities to replace Erasmus then that will work fine......

from the Guardian comes this, from the Spanish PM:

For those of us who don’t speak Spanish....

”Welcome to the beginning of the agreement between the EU and the UK. Congratulations to @MichelBarnier, @vonderleyen and their teams. The Member States will examine it and @EUCouncil will comment in the coming days.

Spain and UK continue to dialogue to reach an agreement on Gibraltar.”
