Latest development emanating from Brussels and certain countries is about setting up a European army now we are not there to veto the idea. Must say if this goes ahead NATO will be finished, no country is going to contribute resources to a European Army and NATO. Putin and Russia will love this this.

About the European army, it's headquarters will be in Brussels, but who will be in charge and what language will be used? Will the leadership rotate?

The French are the only major players milartary wise, so likely them?

yes but the EU stated how our fuel tariffs were paid so we can just change them like the USA!
so our top quality sttel is produced on a level playing field!

There is/was a steel glut that drove the price of steel down because demand decreased. Knocking off EU fuel 'tariffs', imposed on all EU countries, will not get the cost of British steel down sufficiently to compete.

"On the flipside, falling global demand and a strong pound make steel exports more expensive. Simply put, Britain is in the worst spot right now. Our steel is too expensive. There is too much of it. And no one wants to buy it.

Steel’s labour costs there [the UK] at about $200 per tonne of production, compared with as little as $10 for its Chinese peers. "That gap was too difficult to bridge with the best of operating efficiencies," Arora said.

Considering prices are around £285 per tonne for steel, according to pricing agency Platts, you can see how Chinese steel companies can remain profitable while British companies struggle to make ends meet. In fact, Britain's biggest steelworks Port Talbot is said to be losing around £1 million per day". Business Insider UK Mar. 31, 2016.

The EU 'fuel tariff' is not £1 million per day. Of course, leaving the EU will allow the UK government to cut fuel costs, push the pound down further to make UK steel more cheaper - but raw materials will rise, re-nationalise the steel industry or bail it out with hand outs.

Or outside the EU we could have stopped China dumping steel on us but hey ho the tariff we had to abide too was the EUs paltry 12 % where the USA put a 50% tariff on steel to stop dumping by China -
Exactly why a good reason to leave the EU and its crap policies we will get our independence back!

Or the Tory government might have taken steps towards nationalisation like.

A bit late when we let china via the EU dump cheap reconstituted steel like!
If we strt with our rules and can export anywhere industries will boom under Brexit!

Why the feck would they? We export steel, we can't make it as cheap as other nations. The industry needs subsidising Brexit or no Brexit.

You're largely missing the point, why would anyone buy our exports when they were more expensive than China's? It largely wasn't for the domestic market.

Will be interesting to see how Britain copes.

We should be getting a lot of demand for exports now as the pound is ridiculously low. Not good for imports though.
Not good for the repayment of £1.6 trillion debt (over £4 trillion if you factor in pension shortfalls) either.
