Nobody is saying it isn't on them. They re the government so it stops with them. It's why I used the actual words "Johnson has dug a hole for himself"

But the fact is they aren't ready. For whatever reason, or whoevers fault, the country isn't ready so I'm saying it would have been better to have delayed the transition period.

If you don't agree that's your call.

They’ve never been ready though - the complexity of this task is something that is way beyond them, even without the pandemic. Plus the issue is what they can accept, not what’s good for the country. Another extension would only work in terms of this if it collapsed the government and got rid of them.

Mate, its the fault of the craven, feckless idiots that dragged us into this mess and are too full of themselves to put the lives and welfare of their own citizens above their ideals and egos. Its an absolute minimum baseline for government and they've consistently failed to clear that bar.

Because they represent your interests and mine. I've no idea, but then I couldn't see the point.

What do you want - what would your advice to the negotiating team be?

Take back control of our laws - which ones?

More fleet of foot - to do what?

Trade globally - on what terms?

Free ourselves to be Sovereign - so what parts of it are we giving up as part of our trade deals?

What is our actual strategy other than to moan 'we want this and the EU are bullying us because they won't give us what we want?'

The floor is yours...
Many of those questions are reasons for voting to leave the EU. I've told you before I've given those reasons a few times in here and I'm not going there again. If you're so interested then go back over the thread and find out for yourself.

As regards the TD, again, neither of us have any idea WTF is going on. We hear the two main stumbling blocks are level playing field and fishing. But we have little idea what either side is demanding.

On the fishing side I think it's fair that the UK boats should at least have equal fishing rights as EU boats. That means that EU boats would need to effectively halve what they currently fish in our waters. However given that the UK fleet don't have the current capacity to take up the extra, I would agree a phased reduction over a 5 year period. This would allow time for the French and other EU boats to source elsewhere (or be financially compensated by their countries/EU) whilst the UK builds up it's fishing industry. No idea where that fits within what's actually going on. I heard that the French were willing to discuss a 10% to15% reduction in where they are now, but I have no clue how legit that was. But if true, and they intend to veto based on that, then I don't think a deal will ever happen. No deal would actually be an utter disaster for the French fishermen, and the fish loving French people.

As regards the level playing field, not sure what the stumbling blocks actually are, but if the UK government do end up bailing a company out I don't see why the EU just can't impose restrictions on that company.

We all read the news, we all know the current stumbling blocks. And yes you are correct, many were cited as reasons to leave the EU. But if you want a trade deal, you have to be willing to give things up and compromise.

Not not asking what the consequences of a deal not be reached are, nor what a deal might mean if we achieve one.

I'm asking you specifically - what parts of the EU/UK arrangements do you want to continue, what do you want to sacrifice, what are your absolute non-negotiable things?

It's going to be brilliant when this fraud backs down and caves in on the level playing field issue. "Freedom!".

Lol.

Let's see you spin this, murderer.

2M partners Maersk and MSC are swapping Felixstowe for Liverpool on their TA2/NEUATL2 transatlantic loop from the end of the year, in order to “provide stability to the service”.

The last sailing from Felixstowe will be by the 8,822 teu MSC Athens in week 51, with the first sailing from Liverpool by the 6,478 teu Maersk Sembawang planned for the following week.

“After careful evaluation of our network covering North Europe to/from North America, we will change our UK port call from Felixstowe to Liverpool,” said a customer advisory from Maersk.

Nevertheless, capturing new services and accepting diverted ships has put considerable pressure on the landside operation at Liverpool, leading to several anecdotal reports of lengthy delays for hauliers.
