You do still vote for these prats and pillocks though? You still support the policies they propose? With respect, it seems a little flimsy to be saying "you're a div mate, but on you go anyway"
I think it’s a way of telling yourself you’re non-partisan if you say a minister has been a bit daft now and then. I mean who appointed him despite his previous and significant misdemeanours? Who has fostered this environment of nepotism and unaccountability? Yet they’ll still get the votes and lol boris.

Despite Williamson, Johnson, Cummings, Hancock, Patel etc, tories are not getting hammered in the polls. Pretty mental the party/ Brexit loyalty.

I did not vote for either Williamson or Hancock. I voted for the man I considered the best of our local politicians. Personally I would sack Williamson immediately as he is a joke. The policies I supported when voting were to complete Brexit and develop our international trade. Quite a lot of people voted similarly. My vote had nothing to do with the handling of the Coronavirus because it had not yet arrived. I believe the government have made many mistakes regarding Covid but have reversed the mistakes of the May administration in dealing with the EU and appear to be doing the right thing. Would Labour or the Libdems have managed the Covid any better ? I doubt it. Would Labour or the LibDems have managed our negotiations any better, certainly not as I believed they would have caved just as May did. So for me we are in a good a place as any could have got us, I’m pretty sure that Boris will remove the obvious lightweights from his cabinet in the new year....

indeed, but look at yesterday’s Mail to see why that is - Labour blamed on the front page for some Jamaicans convicted of serious offences not being in a particular deportation flight, even though the campaign against the deportations was led by black celebrities and academics, and the Labour MPs who backed it were all backbenchers.

Johnsons deal was worse than May’s, pete. It was so bad even he disowned it.

I'm prepared to give a degree of grace over Covid as while there are some countries that have done very well, there have also been terrible results from states from across the political spectrum. Obviously, there are specifically Tory aspects of this that they'll have to own, such as the fruits from their campaign to discredit experts during Brexit that are showing their consequences now in the form of anti-lockdown and anti-vaxx support among their base, but it is an unenviable task they have and it's a "least bad" scenario.

With Brexit, however, the record has been incredibly flimsy, and it's remarkable that four years down the road there are still no real tangible benefits materialising for people to hang their hat on. Instead, they're desperately trying to lie and say a no deal outcome is okay because it's an Australia deal, which is patently absurd, and we've got a Home Office which is getting grimmer and grimmer with every waking day. I mean what kind of dim-witted government celebrates the removal of "our" right to freely live and work in 30 other countries around the world?

It's just so hollow and cowardly when people say this. Your vote did have to do with the handling of the coronavirus - the way they've handled much of this has been on show for years. The lying, the protecting of their pals, the faux bumbling to hide real incompetence. This was all there before.
To suggest they've handled the Brexit negotiations well is staggering, too.

Going to be a big shock this to many people, especially as the ability to work remotely has accelerated. Will cause huge resentment towards brexit and those who voted for it in the future. I’d imagine future governments will have to agree to a new freedom of movement deal at some point. Which kinda defeats the object of why many voted for brexit in the first place.
I’m moving to Portugal in new year and have had to sign documents to say I’m already living there and lie about a specific address otherwise my work prospects plummet.

Just read that. What happens if a member state of the EU vetoes the deal? Do we just find ourselves out in the cold on the 1st January as if we had scuppered it ourselves but with a convenient scapegoat?

I am off to look at what a no deal actually means after lunch now ... prewarned is forearmed etc.

It does all seem very sad, but great news about your move. Portugal seems like a lovely country, and quite the growing hub for digital things.

Yeah it seems that way. Was planning on teaching but there are quite a number of jobs for English speakers and remote working.
There has been a growing sentiment of racism towards many Brazilians that have moved there and Africans. I know it’s not a utopia but I’m happy to leave the U.K. to be honest. Feel more and more like I have little in common with most folk.

why will they? if the ability to work remotely has accelerated then why would anyone need to move country to work?

i still fail to see why we would have to agree to a new freedom of movement. What did we do prior to the Lisbon treaty?

I'm pretty certain people from other countries still worked in the uk

I certainly hope you are not suggesting that Corbyn and Abbott would have been the correct solution for dealing with the pandemic. For all the chaos you imagine, Labour have not laid a glove on the current government either with Covid or Brexit.....

lol

They’d have been much better, pete - look at the rest of the world, apart from Mexico the worst hit countries are the ones led by right-wing narcissists.
