We've got to the Falklands war. Only a few more armed conflicts to go before we get to the present day.Not properly been on these pages for a while.
Good to see the conversation has moved on from 'how could an ally we've treated so well bully us like this?' and discussion about WW1 and WW2.
So much for a forward thinking Britain embracing it's future.

An honest question, Pete. Why would an EU army, which we would be part of, be a concern?
if the creation of an EU army is inevitable, which I‘m not sure if it is, but it may well be, wouldn’t you be more concerned now, about it being created anyway, and us not being part of it? What was your concern about the creation of an EU army with us in it. What did you see as the danger?
I find the number of comments from that tweet by people thinking the end of freedom of movement will prevent illegal immigration staggering tbh. Especially those who think it'll stop people arriving on dinghies from across the Channel. People are either misinformed or stupid, probably both. What a thing to celebrate. Bloody fools.
It's an utter nonsense, and wrong on various levels. Regarding "illegal" immigration, there is currently no legal way for people to claim asylum, which is why so many make such a dangerous journey. People also forget that those making the journey are nearly all the middle class from the country they're fleeing. They're the people just like us, as the poor in those countries don't have the money for it. You would think we would move heaven and earth to accommodate people who themselves are moving heaven and earth to come to this country, but instead we want to treat them like they're sub-human. It's frankly a disgrace. That it's being instigated by a woman whose parents were fortunate enough to leave Uganda before Idi Amin started to ethnically cleanse people of their ethnicity makes it even more staggering.I find the number of comments from that tweet by people thinking the end of freedom of movement will prevent illegal immigration staggering tbh. It makes me a bit angry. I was lucky enough to grow up, go to uniniversy and work while we had it. Made a few good friends from the Continent, some were even French! If I ever have children it's such a pity they won't get the same opportunity.
