Always the victim...

With regard to trade deals, I've said many times that the single market has been so valuable because it goes a long way beyond the kind of tariff-related issues that are usually covered by trade deals. I'm a globalist, and believe that the world is better when we all work together on key issues. Adding or subtracting tariffs on this, that, or the other barely scratch the surface.

Apart from the cheap below the belt opening comment, you say you are a globalist yet are transfixed with the EU. I too am a globalist, and voted Leave so that we could deal with the RoW and have said so from day 1.....

If the government wanted to increase immigration and integration with others around the world, I'd be fully supportive, but they don't. Not by a long way, and whenever they have any difficulties they whip out some faux nationalist outrage to shore up their support, whether that's refugees or Rule Britannia. They're a disgrace to anyone who has global and inclusive values.

Agreeing with a free press does not mean you have to read it....
I think reading it is rather the point. Seeing both sides of an argument and then making a decision.
Your point would be better made as “Reading a free press doesn’t mean you have to agree with it.”
It was a free press after all which allowed us to read and disagree with Lord Rothermere’s
“Hurrah for the Blackshirts”

Like it or not, it’s your government too Roydo. My guess is to get an FTA in place, but attempt to remove it as a negotiating chip for the EU.....

So unicorns still.

FWIW, I held my nose and voted for them purely and simply because I was sick and tired of the constipated HOC we were witnessing; brexit had to be resolved, even though I thought it was a stupid idea and folk bought into absolute nonsense.

I do read the Guardian and Independent though. I was mere suggesting that Bruce stops doing so ....

I think you do the U.K. a massive injustice tbh. I believe the U.K. is open to people who wish to work here and have the necessary skills to acquire a job. I understand that the FTA being put together with Australia covers this very point....

Ah, so it’s suppression of individual freedoms you’re ok with. The point of a free press is that it’s free for everyone presumably.

No mate, it was a joke remark to Bruce about one of his replies, which you then decided to take umbrage about and turn it into some outrage about free speech, and have now escalated it further into a supposed suppression of individual freedoms.....

I would posit that any immigrant would have the skills to find a job. Indeed, the very notion that you would move to another country without believing that would be so is frankly absurd. Yet we have a government that is reducing immigration considerably, and responsible for the creation of a hostile environment towards immigrants. Which part of that is open and welcoming to you? When it came to those whipping up hatred at Dover versus those pleading tolerance, which of those most aligned with this government do you think? Which Home Secretary has been boasting about the number of refugees she has expelled in recent weeks?

Openness my 'arris.
