Hows that NI/ROI border coming along?

I havent seen anyone come up with a remotely credible solution to that bad boy. one of the fintan o’toole books explains the conundrum very well. unfortunately if anyone brought it up prior to the vote I didnt see it (& tbh I probably wouldnt have paid much attention if I had heard it) thats not to say it isnt vital, just my personal situation on it

so to recap, that most of project fear is coming true:

1. cost of holidays has gone up due to the value of the pound

2. ??
I was about to reply, but despite your claims to the contrary, you're being disingenuous.

Btw #1 isn't clear-cut, the value of Sterling was consistently dropping under the Conservatives prior to the vote.

Believe it or not, Theresa May spoke about the Irish border issue with her remain hat on, pre-referendum, but it was largely ignored until after the vote.

You clearly weren't looking

I think pre-referendum, I was 60/40 in favour of remain, but was certainly persuadable.

My primary reason for voting remain was pragmatic - did I trust a bunch of politicians more interested in power, slogans and PR to be able to wade through 40+ years of complex legislative entanglement, and trading fine print.

I’ve seen nothing in the 4 years since to give me any confidence that the government truly understand what’s involved, let alone deliver any tangible benefits.
My reason was cos the whole campaign was largely driven by racism, xenophobia and jingoism. And like you took one look at the highest profile individuals promoting a leave vote.
Kinda smothered out any wish to explore it further tbh. Personally believe the leave vote has legitimised racism and xenophobia for many with the effects to be felt for generations. Probably a worthwhile price for wonky bananas

I very early on asked how that circle would be squared, and was told that "technology" would. Didnt believe it then, dont believe it now.

That single issue skewered every single argument about controlling our own borders/ending free movement to my eyes.

And this is why the referendum you voted in was a terrible idea.
