It was our money to begin with, they just gave a small part of it back. The Fact that you believe that the EU is giving you ‘free’ money is perhaps the biggest con trick ever developed, and like sheep you believe it......

So the Conservative government of the early 90s would have authorised a billion quid of long term infrastructure spending in making Liverpool a nicer place, would they?

You know a lot about politics, don't you @peteblue? You know a lot about the Tory proposal for the managed decline of this region don't you? You have no idea about the city of Liverpool and the Tory fund starvation of it. The EU reconstructed this place, a place you only visit on weekend breaks in order to gawp and gloat at the down and outs...

All my family live there, I was born there and raised my own family there up until the early 90’s when my company wanted me to move. Please don’t try and tell me what happened during the 80’s in Liverpool. So what did the 13 years of Labour government do for it...apart from turning down our Planning application for a new stadium in Kirkby......answers on a small postage stamp......

Well, the Labour city council successfully secured a billion quid worth of infrastructure investment from the EU as well as the title of European Capital of Culture along with the attendant boost in the arts scene and tourism.

I have no problem with the City council, because of whichever colour they always try their best for the city. But Nationally, what has Labour done since Wilson put the motorway network around the place....

Talk about the Labour government in the proper thread. This is about the EU, and specifically a well made point by another poster that the EU invested a large amount of money towards the restoration of Liverpool in the face of Tory inaction. Complete Tory inaction. The Tories were, and are, scum. You vote for them in elections. Go figure...
