I remember, probably years ago now, asking a Leaver to square the circle between EU borders and the NI/ROI border being sorted.

"Some technology" was the gist of his reply. Its literally, impossible to square. Still.
It can’t be resolved which is why NI remains effectively within the EU for trading terms.

It has been a sobering experience for the DUP to swallow that.

The leave voters in this thread have gone very quiet.

Folks spouting off in an echo chamber to make them feel superior to those that dare have the temerity to disagree with them is one way to pass the time I suppose. Meh what's the point of poking those bears again ?

However, if the habit of the previous 4500+ posts is going to be broken and it's something that is actually part of a constructive debate then have at it.

How about this...

The UK left the EU on 31st January 2020, something some remain voters are still struggling to understand, why is this ?

I know. They've gone oddly quiet in here...

A look at the thread title should really answer the question about continuing debate in this thread. EU in or Out was the title and question. The U.K. voted to Leave, Remainers wouldn’t accept it, the U.K. has now left the EU, Remainers still don’t understand it. It’s over, done with, finished. We are now negotiating a trade deal with the EU, just as we are with the USA and Japan. The U.K.‘s involvement with the EU is over, we are a sovereign independent country once again. This thread should be closed tbh.....

There is a justified reason to continue debating the relationship Britain will have with the EU from January. I get that for many Brexiters, there is no care given to what the future relationship will be whatsoever, but for many in the country, that is not the case at all. It's almost like you're uneasy about having any accountability for your actions Pete.

Its not getting closed till we can see all the benefits of leaving that were promised.

Cornwall CC have asked the Government for £700m to cover the next 10 years of EU funding, after that county voted Leave, obviously well aware they would lose said funding.

So lets look forward to some more great "wins", and no more unelected officials going for eye tests.

wait, so you want the conversation to stop but your dots say continue?! right, I'm done now, promise :)

Not at all Bruce. But the debate should be about what you say, negotiating a trade deal with the EU.

But the thread has lost it’s way, now it’s about orange juice and stuff. Over the last 5 or 6 pages there’s probably 2 or 3 informative comments. The rest is about Orange juice and Degsy and I responding in a childish manner to the obvious baiting from Remainers who want to keep all the old arguments going.

I care about the future relationship, but unfortunately the Remainers spent 4 years undermining any chance of negotiating a deal to the benefit of both the EU and U.K.. So we are where we are, the U.K. proposing a minimalist deal while the EU tries it’s best to hang on to UK subservience and control from Brussels. There has been no ‘good faith’ negotiations and quite honestly I’m more than happy now just to say ‘goodbye and thanks for the fish’.

The U.K. and Japan will end up doing a sensible deal as will the U.K. and USA/Australia/Canada/etc etc, without the deal being scuppered by Cyprus and its cheese.

The EU is a protectionist bloc seeking always to sell more stuff than it imports while creating the USE. I wish them well...
