If the remain campaign had actually engaged people in all of the benefits and the advantages of being in the EU and made people feel enthusiastic and positive instead of just smearing every leaver as a racist then we'd still be in Europe.
I don't blame them for celebrating a victory after universally being labelled racists when a lot of people had genuine concerns that should have been listened to.
That's the legacy, the Remain campaign abjectly failed in it's task and probably helped galvanise countless voters who were offended by the racist accusations and swung the vote.

In the eyes of plenty it most definitely has, you only have to look at plenty of the clips of the ‘celebrations’ last night to definitively demonstrate this.
Those who are denying this is a reality don’t like the association with these sorts, but I’m afraid that’s just tough, as they’re on the same side of the argument - fact.
No mate. I don’t know why you find it so hard to understand. I don’t know if we will be better off or not leaving the Eu. To be honest I imagine it will make no difference to me. I know nothing about trade deals. I don’t care about sovereignty as thousands of unelected British people make decisions that affect my life daily.
What I do care about is the fact we have a majority Tory government in power, with a divided opposition that has come about solely due to brexit. A Tory government by the way that has launched a blatant assault on the poorest and most vulnerable in our society over the last 10 years. When I see areas like Blyth in Northumberland voting Tory, it is not because of domestic policy proposals it’s because they want less immigrants here.
Now you may be happy that that’s the price to pay for achieving your goal and joke around taking pictures of the sky and posting songs. Lol. But I’m not. I’m [Poor language removed] furious as any right minded individual should be.

Free trade agreements, its what we used to do before joining the EEC and then having to impose tariffs on stuff from around the World. The rest of the world is opening up again to trade and the economies outside of the Eu are growing at faster rates. The EU is what it is, a protectionist bloc.....

Amazing really, who would have thought if you spent an entire campaign calling large numbers of the population racists and swivel eyed loons and comparing them to gammon that they might actually think about going down to the polling station and shoving it rar up them.
Remainers were obviously happy just thinking they had the moral high ground and couldn't see any other outcome. All talk, no trousers. They all thought someone else would vote and win it for them.
I am a staunch remainer and I am very sad but I don't identify one bit with that campaign, that wasn't my voice and they didn't speak for me.

Divided opposition solely due to Brexit? Are you serious? Labour is in chaos because its leader decided he would talk about a second Referendum, among other stupidities. He blew it for the whole Labour movement, hence previous Labour strongholds voting against him. The guy ultimately proved himself to be a clown of a leader, and it saddens me to say so, as a life-long Labour voter.
You claim that Blyth voted the way it did because they wanted less immigrants there? Conducted a poll. Canvassed every single voter? No, thought not. Glib throwaway phrases STILL from Remain voters.
Go organise a Remainers pity party, or an anti-Brexit demo...

Nah mate. I work there often. Screwed over by Tory cuts then voted them in on Xenophobic ideas. Hear it time and time again. People blaming immigrants to cuts in their benefits etc etc.
Labour did not know how to deal with brexit but the tories knew they could just wolf whistle to the right. How else do you explain collapses in votes for UKIP and brexit party.

This harks back long before the referendum. The Economist had a piece this week about the media's ongoing trope about silly Brussels rules, and the trope was so absurd that the EU created a website to debunk the tripe that was printed on a regular basis. This was harking back 20 years or more. As with so much, this is a mess purely of our own making, but it hardly seems like a good thing to celebrate Brexit because a good enough job was not done in extolling the virtues, with people who want this seemingly liking the fact they were ignorant of the reality.
