6% of UK land is built on. We have loads of space.

Gross oversimplification that though, mind you you're in the right thread for that.

Roughly 70 to 75% of land in England is farmland, with 10 to 15% being "natural", which, unless you want to concrete over farms and wild areas doesn't leave much to play with.

Scotland and Wales could probably soak up a fair amount of housing, but neither the jobs or the infrastructure are there to support a large increase in their population's ( plus, it's Scotland and Wales, so people don't want to live there ), so any increase in housing will normally be in places where the population density is already pretty high.

Of course it's a gross simplification, but the reality is that without migration the UK population will shrink. So the "running out of space" argument is ridiculous.

Aye, but you didn't say that, you just followed the herd and talked in soundbites.

Plainly we need immigrants, or else, at best, we'll stagnate, but more and more people are living on their own, so it's not just a case of the population shrinking freeing up housing, because that's pretty much balanced by the change in household demographics.

We should be welcoming immigrants from the EU and further afield, but we should also have joined up plans to support their needs in the areas they're likely to live. They're likely to be relatively young, so they're unlikely to put much strain on the NHS ( probably the opposite overall ), but they are quite likely to stretch housing and educational services.

To be honest, I've lost interest in writing rational posts when Joe replies with complete bollocks. If he can't show respect, why bother?

So this trade deal with the rational Trump we have to do this year is off to a good start brexiteers?

No it is not, but it depends exactly which bits of the network they are allowed into, what they can control and what they can shut down. Personally I would be more concerned with the Huawei tablets as they will have no BT oversight or control and can be programmed to steal anything if they wish......

The problem is Trump has a fragile ego and this is a humiliation to him and his lobbying power. USA already held all the cards in the upcoming trade negotiations as they are huge compared to us, now they hold the cards and have an angry Trump who will want to punish us in the deal to save face and help him in the upcoming election...
