We had a series of ‘experts‘, including the IMF, telling us before the referendum stating that everything would be terrible. We now have the same experts, including the IMF, saying that the U.K. will outperform the Eu and Germany. I happen to believe in our companies to prosper, you may not. No one really knows if we would have been better in or out of the Eu, financially. But what we do know is that if we make a mess of anything we can vote out our governing body, which we could not do with the EU. We can make decisions based on what we want, not what 27 other countries want.......

Well once you strip out all the protections on people working for those companies I imagine they will be successful. If you measure success as profit.,

Don't need facts we are leaving...
Was that the slogan before the referendum?

I joke, I joke.

I actually think that now we are leaving we have an opportunity that wasn't available to us before. It might not have been an opportunity I would have chosen, but it's one that is here in front of us. If the UK can become a more agile and exploit its talents and resources to the best of its abilities, then we can thrive.

I expect some problems in the short term before we see any benefits though.

LOL

We have observed that EU migrants are better integrated into the British labor market than Brits themselves. They pay more taxes and make greater contributions to social security, and are better educated than their British peers. They have greatly contributed to the British gross domestic product and the welfare system.

The UK has been less successful, however, handling immigrants from third countries [outside the EU — Editor's note] and the Commonwealth; they aren't as well-integrated into the labor market as EU immigrants. The data tells us that Brexit will negatively affect the UK, because it will lose many high-skilled workers from new EU member states.

I said as much dozens of times. We're in a position whereby we can directly compare migrants that came to Britain via free movement (ie 'uncontrolled') with those who were permitted to come by the government (ie 'controlled'). There isn't a single metric whereby the controlled migrants outperform the uncontrolled migrants, yet for some reason that escapes me, Joe and his ilk believe that controlling migration is the answer.

I can understand this level of stupidity from the general public, but for the supposed party of 'small government' and minimal intervention to be gunho behind this leaves no explanation other than flagrant racism.

Or just an easy card for an immoral government to play in order to whip up support

Without the weaponisation of free movement Brexit never happens. So it was built up by the right wing media and the likes of Farage as being the key issue, and people were encouraged to believe that it was EU immigration that was the root of societies ills. Can’t get a Dr’s appt? Blame an immigrant. Can’t get social housing? Blame an immigrant.

Facts didn’t matter, it was all about stirring up feelings and creating faux beliefs. The irony was, and still is, that the kind of folk who fell for this rhetoric would likely never blame the immigrants that they actually know. I don’t mean you Polish Bob, who lives up the road with his family and is a hard working plasterer. I mean the others, all those ones I don’t know. Those Schrodinger’s immigrants, the ones who are simultaneously taking all of our jobs whilst simultaneously stealing all of our benefits.

Those who created this, now know they need to follow through with it, as if they didn’t, the hordes would bay that it wasn’t Brexit! They know fine well that the removal of free movement will have an economic and social cost, but they don’t care, the ‘Will of the people’ and all that.

The problem isn't immigration, it's how it's handled,
Were not a big country and there's not a lot of space. There should of been a plan to predict population rise and see how much housing we have available, then that number available should of seen that many immigrants come in with a set plan already laid out so they can come in.

What labours Blair did was open the borders and when too many came we couldn't handle them. Also little/no checks you had murderers from other countries let in with no background checks
