On today's politics live show Momentum did have a ballot for the leadership -
Long bailey yes or no so she will win it very democratic, but true .......

If the membership vote for her though isn’t that the very epitome of democracy? I
Mean corbyn lost the GE democratically but he walked the leadership elections , he may not have been my choice but I struggle to see how it’s not democratic and the same if LB wins . There will be candidates up against her , if she gets the most votes it seems fairly simple.

The old Soviet Union only ever had one name on ballot sheets. They used to boast about having votes in favour of 99.6% I think the other .4% ended up in the Gulag.
Always remember the not the nine o'clock news sketch 5 unions leaders sat around the table in discussion waiter came in coffee or tea sirs 4 voted for tea, and the biggest membership union leader guy voted coffee by hands up in the air - so Coffee it is then , they replied to the waiter lol

I'm not an expert on the Labour leadership procedures. I understand that Momentum has about 40,000 members, all of whom are also members of the Labour Party. And I know they had a ballot today in which it was decided they would endorse RLB in the leadership race.

Does that mean that Momentum will now offer a block backing to RLB in the leadership vote, or will they still each get the chance to vote individually? If the latter, I can't see what the issue is. Also, how is the union vote counted now.?

It was so much easier to understand under the old rules when the MPs, constituency members and affiliated unions all had a third each

The final leadership election is one person one vote be they members or affiliated supporters . So exactly it’s democratic.

So if you are a member of one of the affiliated unions you can register to vote? I can't imagine the unions themselves only getting one vote each when they previously controlled one third.
