And how about this EU army that we can't stop?
The EU Army is inevitable and in essence really should be the case, it's about time we European's looked after ourselves. America wants out of NATO, has been wanting out since before Trump. Plenty of papers on the NATO website suggesting the withdrawal of America. Of course America leaving leaves a big lot of weapon spending to fill. Some European countries are happy to fill the void by increasing taxes to pay for it, others not so keen and can't wait to run away...

I have a few other questions to add to this:

Why have the negotiations been so painful despite "holding all the cards" it being the "easiest deal in history" and that "they need us more than we need them"?

What date is it that Turkey will be joining the EU again? And how about this EU army that we can't stop?

I'm still waiting to hear about these "sunlit uplands"...what are the tangible benefits of Brexit, apart from something to do with fish?
Over to you Pete.!

Blimey just as I was getting on board with this Brexit malarky, Australia baulk at the idea of freedom of movement with the UK, not only are they worried about Australian brain drain, they equally worried about our brain mush entering Australia freely. The harsh realities of Internationalist UK...

The U.K. has decided to leave the EU

The UK has NOT decided to leave the EU though, and there lies the problem with the archaic United Kingdom.

Scotland has its own Government and voted Remain. Northern Ireland is supposed to have its own Government and voted Remain. Wales voted to leave as did England. So Scotland and NI must obey England and Wales. They 'won' on the narrowest of margins on a proven basis of lies pushed by criminality, foreign interests and supported by dark money, which isn't exactly democratic.

This isn't an opinion by the way, this is fact.

Now we must ensure that the U.K. gets the best relationship, financially and politically, that we want.

We already have the best possible relationship, financially and politically, with the EU and sit at the table as a major player. Brexit will tear this up. The EU is not perfect, but it is not our enemy, despite what Brexit has been sold to you as.

Ask yourself, why would the EU give us a better deal than actually being in the EU?

This will affect people for the next 30 years and we need to get it right.

Clearly not from Liverpool are you? If you were you'd know that EU money helped regenerated Liverpool.

The so called 'will of the people' is based on promises of everything being *better*, not catastrophically worse. There is NO benefit to Brexit. Any perceived benefits are vastly overshadowed. I'm happy to discuss any so called benefits that you 'believe' or have been sold to you by the snake oil salesmen, who by the way personally stand to benefit greatly at our expense.

It would help if political parties actually got behind our government and stopped trying to extend, reverse, undermine

Do you ever stop for a moment and think of why that is? Brexit has always been a terrible idea, it is not in the country's best interest and its origins are greed and xenophobia - there is nothing good that will come of it. Look how divisive and destructive it's been already; it will damage the economy, possibly break up the UK and threaten peace in Ireland and has already turned the country into a global laughing stock.

I genuinely feel sorry for people who still want Brexit to happen, they have been conned. With all the information and evidence available now, it really is a case of sense vs insanity.

Brexit is a monumental mistake, a disgrace and a show of utter incompetence.

You're new here huh?

I guess it would be too much to expect that you now get behind Brexit and make it work?

Well one way would be to stop trying to disrupt it, like some Remainers have been doing for the last three years. You've had two shots at it and lost two, just accept defeat gracefully.

We're in this mess as the public have been openly and wilfully lied to by a Brexit campaign and Government that promised things they could not, have not and will not deliver.

Leave broke the law and then one of the worst Tory governments in recent memory were given a blank cheque.

You want me to get behind something that is divisive, toxic, born out of greed and xenophobia, will strip us of our freedoms, will cause economic decline and turn Britain into a cripplingly uncompetitive laughing stock?

Britain is already ~£66bn poorer (that’s roughly £1000 per person) because of Brexit, and we haven't even left yet. I'm yet to hear a cogent argument or a tangible benefit for going ahead with Brexit. But I'm happy to be enlightened...

Why don't you explain one actual tangible benefit of leaving the EU, backed up with data/evidence?
So far no one has been able to give one that stands up to scrutiny. Then we'll see about getting behind it.

Oh, and patriotic tosh and sound bites don't count.

1. Remain lied also.
The Leave and Remain camps were canvassing entities. They held no Executive function, and therefore could not promise anything, and ceased to exist on 23rd June 2016.

2. Remain broke the law also.

3. I think you need to provide concrete proof to back up this assertion. Also, if you know so much of which you have stated, can you possibly PM me the Lottery numbers for the next draw...?

4. Proof again please.

5. Since we haven't left yet, and we don't have crystal balls, NO ONE knows how things will shape up post-Brexit. But if you do, I repeat, PM me the lottery numbers.

Finally, given the page number, all of your tired, old, remarks have been trotted out in this thread on numerous occasions, too many to mention. Being new, you probably wouldn't know that.

Oh yes, a Happy New Year to all my readers, and attackers! Keep on smiling, we won't be relegated.

To be fair to Pete ( my, that was hard to type ), the decision was made collectively by everyone in the UK. The fact that some things are decided by devolved governments in Scotland and Northern Ireland ( if it could pull it's ace out of it's arse anyway ) is academic, membership of the EU isn't a devolved issue, period.

You might want it to be a devolved issue, but it isn't. London voted to remain, and, lets face it, London is far more important to the UK than Scotland or NI, but Khan can't unilaterally reject the result of the referendum either.
