To nonchalantly dismiss workers rights is mind boggling, but fits in with the classist argument the fella has presented over the last day or so. Apparently who funds politicians is irrelevant, especially if they went to the right school to get a medicre degree
Dismiss it? I'm saying it should be a separate issue to leaving the EU. What's wrong with the people on this board, very insistent on misrepresent positions? lol

The Tories very much do.

Indeed that's one of the very few legitimate Corbyn areas to exploit.

The counter-argument, of course, is that protecting workers rights is not as big an issue if nobody is in work...
Conservative voters will tell you unemployment is at an all time low with people up and down the country working 5 hours a week

Indeed, it's a castle built on sand at the moment.

Problem is if Corbyn makes the welfare 'safety net' too comfortable then it doesn't pay to work and unemployment soars.

It's a balancing act; neither party have it right. Zero hour contracts need scrapping but the measures put in place to replace have to be sensible.

Nothing can stop the ravenous appetite for Brexit...no matter what the consequences.

Human rights, workers rights, collapse of the Union - to hell with anything else, just get Brexit done.

It's Ahab pursuing his Whale.
It's not my fault you're anti-democratic, bud. I'll remain in support of respecting the result of the 2016 referendum, and you can continue whinging about it, lying about manifesto promises, trying to disregard the will of the people because of a technicality, and so on. :)

I work with people now who have minimum 6 hour a week contracts and such like. I think it’s just so that the employers can say they don’t use 0 hour contracts

I wasn't very clued up about zero hour contracts, but after doing a bit of research just then, apparently 72% of people on zero hour contracts are content with them, and don't want more hours. What do you think about this?

That they enjoy the flexibility but don't consider job security and exploitation until they become victims of it.

The problem with them is that the rights are far too skewed to the employer.

The answer is more secure contracts that incorporate more working hour flexibility. The problem with 'traditional' contracts is how rigid they are - generally part time or full time, 40 hour per week, no negotiation. If you had the ability to offer someone between 6-10 hours per week but it was underscored by job security, that'd be a lot more popular than zero hours.

Is this a big problem, though? Do you know of any material on this that I can read?

Ok Captain Democrocy!

You continue to hold a non binding advisory referendum, which would have been void of it had been legally binding, up as the pinnacle of democratic intent and considering 'technicality' (I assume you mean a sovereign parliament) as a hindrance to delivering what you 'won'.

They are protected by the EU and the minium standards set by the EU, that's like saying the good friday agreement should be a separate issue to leaving the EU, they might not have been at the forefront of leavers minds but these are things unavoidably linked to leaving or how how we leave the EU

The British people were told it would be implement and voted in the tens of millions, each side of the debate believed the result mattered, parliament activated article 50 etc. etc. Stop using such slimy reasoning just because the vote didn't go how you wanted it to, bud. Whether it was legally binding or not, it told us what the people want. It'll be a travesty if it doesn't get implemented (but I'm sure it will eventually).
