Their 2017 manifesto said they would accept the result of the 2016 referendum. They clearly haven't. They've been arguing that workers' rights and other things would no longer be protected by the EU, which is a lame excuse to delay Brexit, as it should be a thing for the country's government to deal with. Nothing would be stopping them from getting into power and protecting those things.
They are arguing that the EU currently has protections in place for workers rights, which could be lost in the event of Brexit.

It's not a lame excuse for delay. It's a very good reason for delay and as the current opposition they are seeking to make sure that the current government doesn't drop workers rights below the current EU regulation.

I still dont see how this is at odds with their manifesto in 2017.

Not that it's too important, now. It's disappointing they've repeatedly tried to delay it, but now they apparently support an early GE. Let's sort this mess out. lol

I don't think it's a good reason to stay in the EU... to tie the hands of any government, preventing it from doing what the british people voted it in to do. Seems quite anti-democratic to me. If Labour wants to protect and strengthen workers' rights, then they need to win a GE. Plus, people were told of these possibilities prior to the referendum, and still voted in majority to leave the EU. To keep bringing up these things after you've lost the argument is pretty lame.

They aren't saying it's a good reason to stay in the EU, they are saying it's a reason not to support the WAB.

Some don't recognise the quandry of how those rights were fought and won by their own ancestors and family, especially when the 'we won the war' brigade drag their knuckles.

The british people fought for those rights. Over many years and with many lives, so they should be passed over for Trump deals?

Nothing can stop the ravenous appetite for Brexit...no matter what the consequences.

Human rights, workers rights, collapse of the Union - to hell with anything else, just get Brexit done.

It's Ahab pursuing his Whale.

To nonchalantly dismiss workers rights is mind boggling, but fits in with the classist argument the fella has presented over the last day or so. Apparently who funds politicians is irrelevant, especially if they went to the right school to get a medicre degree

Dismissing workers rights only exists in Corbyns and his followers minds as a political argument. No one else wants to get rid of them...

Except Johnson as part of his lowering of standards to make the UK more attractive (read: Profitable) to invest in than mainland Europe post-Brexit.

It was only from the Treaty of Nice that British workers were guaranteed paid holiday FFS.

The Tories very much do.

Indeed that's one of the very few legitimate Corbyn areas to exploit.

The counter-argument, of course, is that protecting workers rights is not as big an issue if nobody is in work...
