These are the people that have caused all this mess. Practically any other labour leader would have got behind the remain campaign and probably that would have been enough to swing it.

I think the big problem with this though, was that a lot of labour voters voted leave because they wanted change. If Labour had suddenly said we are a Remain party then they run a dangerous line of losing a lot of voters. I personally think the 'vote for us and we'll run a more detailed referendum' while not as catchy to most, is a more sensible approach. The issue Labour have is that the media have turned Corbyn in to a hate figure for anyone who doesn't read past the headline.

I routinely read past headlines and I really dislike Jeremy Corbyn. He is somewhat... divisive.

i dont think there will be enough savvy voting for this to happen

i fear the average voter will want 'brexit sorted' and that 'boris seems to be trying his best' and 'i'm not sure about that corbyn bloke'

this will lead to a tory majority...hopefully i am wrong and people come to there senses, if labour can get a good campaign going then you never know

I am utterly ashamed to say I am almost in the camp of now just "wanting to get Brexit done".

As much as I am a passionate remainer and think Brexit is the worst of all things - from toecurling xenophobia to major economic self-harm I am in a position where I firmly believe Johnson, Farage and most of the media have hoodwinked enough idiots to win a working majority at a general election. And the UK cant continue indefinitely without a working government.

The idea of another 6 or 9 months ahead of another referendum turns my stomach.

I'm Irish living in the UK. My kids have Irish passports. For particular reasons my financial interests will probably balance out with my main work really benefitting from the stability a deal would provide in the short term offsetting the longer term damage a weaker economy will do to my family business.

The Tories throwing the DUP under a bus gives me increased hope that the Irish border question is perversely in a safer position than I once feared.

And at what point do you just say that the idiots get the Brexit they deserve?

I'm fed up with the crap strategic positions Labour and the Lib Dems have taken - playing into the hands of the Leave groups. The SNP and Irish nationalists have done their bit but its irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

Ironically I still dont know any Leave voters in the real world. Aside from @Joey66 and @peteblue etc on here, plus the odd idiot on the radio I've still never yet heard a real person articulate why they support Brexit. Perhaps it's just my circle or I'm lucky but I clearly live in a bubble!

Good post btw. In terms of your last paragraph, I don’t know any Remain voters, and I think you are right about living in a bubble, we all do to some extent......

I think this is utter nonsense sorry. The brexit vote was anti establishment so having an establishment leader of Labour campaigning alongside the PM who was in the middle of enacting brutal austerity at the same time would've made zero difference, not least swinging over 1 million votes the other way ffs

The blame lies solely with Cameron/the tories

Why do you assume it's only pensioners who voted leave? Do you have their names and addresses? You seem to know an awful lot. The irony is, most of it is awful. I'm afraid, at 67 going on 50, I'll be around for a long time yet. My maternal grandmother was 105 when she died and my mother is 92 and still going strong. Younger people think pensioners are cynical, doddery old codgers who shouldn't be able to vote. The truth is we've been around longer and know how the world - especially politics - works. We've been through all the scaremongering - start a rumour about a shortage of this, that or the other and selfish/ignorant people will ensure it happens, much like the current scaremongering.

Until younger people accept that they haven't lived long enough to act so high and [Poor language removed] mighty maybe they ought not to be given a vote. Much like youth, the right to vote is wasted on the young.
Younger people are using voting statistics to back up their allegations.

They could also just read the mixture of arrogance and ignorance in your post that would confirm the accusations you are whinging about
