I'm baffled how you can read what I just said and come to the outcome of "ideological zealot", but oh well. I know you disagree with me, I know the reasons - that's fine. But I'd trust you to lead the Labour party instead of Corbyn, because with you I at least get the impression that you're able to, when needed, see the need for realism over pure ideology.
Out of interest tubes... who would you replace him with to secure your vote ?

There's no point in even bothering with speculation as the leadership rules are now so botched that Labour are screwed regardless. Even if Corbyn loses and resigns, the Momentum activists will go like for like with a replacement.

But if I could magic one in, then Keir Starmer is the best of a fairly limited field.

I like him... very very clever man who never seems to lose his cool and remains articulate yet not patronising when raising or debating a point

It'd be fairly easy for Johnson to curtail the Brexit Party if he's smart.

He'd have to completely rule out any coalition with them and paint the Tories as the only realistic way to get Brexit done by gaining a majority. He'd paint a vote for BXP as a wasted vote. It's not a time for a protest vote etc.

He'd also be able to paint the BXP as attempting to wreck Brexit by diluting the vote in Tory seats and targets.

But we'll see.

You underestimate the Farage factor.

He is the David Koresh or Jim Jones of the Brexit cult.

The Tories will have trouble on their hands if Farage goes after them.

No, it's bribery, just like Cameron's pledge to hold a Referendum. At least he had the decency to hold it, if not the backbone to follow it through to the result's implementation. But hey, it made for a good chapter in his autobiography.

I've read most of it now and it's a terrible book.

Interesting you admit we all know more about Brexit but that doesnt justify another vote - even in the clear case where the goalposts have moved?!

In the Referendum campaign do you remeber Leave politicians saying "it wont be terrible"? And "can we just get this done?" No. They promised it would be great, full of sunny uplands and £350m more a week for the NHS!

The world has changed. There needs to be another referendum.

The irony of this 17.4 million rant is that there is nowhere near that number of Leavers still breathing!

What I meant was this idea that Corbyn is an ideological person, someone who would stick to a certain set of beliefs irrespective of what the circumstances were or what other people thought. There is not an awful lot of evidence to back that up, though holding that belief does allow certain MPs to avoid engaging with the idea of him or how he became leader.

They had all that against them at the Euro elections...and swept the board.

They're not going away. I bet Farage tonight is grinning like a Cheshire cat.

Why do you assume it's only pensioners who voted leave? Do you have their names and addresses? You seem to know an awful lot. The irony is, most of it is awful. I'm afraid, at 67 going on 50, I'll be around for a long time yet. My maternal grandmother was 105 when she died and my mother is 92 and still going strong. Younger people think pensioners are cynical, doddery old codgers who shouldn't be able to vote. The truth is we've been around longer and know how the world - especially politics - works. We've been through all the scaremongering - start a rumour about a shortage of this, that or the other and selfish/ignorant people will ensure it happens, much like the current scaremongering.

Until younger people accept that they haven't lived long enough to act so high and [Poor language removed] mighty maybe they ought not to be given a vote. Much like youth, the right to vote is wasted on the young.

Did you buy it? More fool you if you did.

There's ample evidence to support a correlation between age and the Brexit vote. There's similar evidence to support a correlation between a lack of education and a vote for Brexit. And those who are not in work voted more for Brexit too.

These aren't necessarily insults, they're just statistics and very likely to be fact.

Add to that the racists, bigots and retired gardeners and you get your 17.4 million

Any other groups that you don't like that you want the vote removed from or is it just younger people?

What age do you develop this wisdom that confers greater knowledge and understanding?
