And its a completely unforced error. May made a show of herself with random deadlines, and Johnson for no reason whatsoever beyond political stupidity has made the same error.
He has behaved liked a spoilt child. Firstly by not signing the letter requesting an extension which was pathetic and petulant, and now by ditching the bill when he could have used the time to gain support for it. Utterly embarrassing. He deserves to be booted out of office.

As they'd have to swear an oath to the Queen in order to take their seat, I'd suggest this is pretty unlikely.

I know.....I was joking.

That said, Sinn Fein need a radical rethink of that outdated, self defeating policy.

Watching these debates it is galling to hear all those Unionist MPs plus the Hoey woman claim to speak on behalf of the "people of NI" when they don't speak for half the people there

Wasn’t aware that Boris set the deadline of 31st October - it was EU imposed
They granted a 7 month extension on the basis that that would easily be enough time to get this sorted. Instead the buffoon in Downing St left it until the last 2 weeks before allowing serious negotiations to begin and so ran out of time.

Boris the Bungler strikes again.

He hasn't ditched it, Mark.

He has "paused" it :(
He will pause it till he hears back from the EU, he has a deal just needs them to say the extension isnt on the table or a very short one at worse ,to pile the pressure on parliament to take this or no deal,
EU have nothing to gain by not playing along, play his game get the deal they already agreed don't and it's up in the air again including no deal as a option.

This is true, but simultaneously it is naive in the extreme for Labour MPs to vote for it through at all.

I knew they would, but it really is silly of them to give Johnson the free vote win to allow him to spin it/lie about it.

@roydo from BBC

BBC Reality Check
It was interesting to hear the prime minister say "one way or another this bill will go through" without a mention of the 31 October date.
That is pretty much the first time I've heard him use that sentence without the date attached.
It is probably a realisation that the 31 October "do or die" deadline has gone away.
It almost certainly is not going to happen.

this WAB would have been destroyed if it had come out months ago
This WAB would have been destroyed this time too once the amendments were voted on. I think Johnson knows that too which is why he is pulling it now before he loses control of it. It could very easily end up as a Labour Brexit with customs union etc.

What happens next is very much in the hands of the EU. Personally I can't see them agreeing to an extension without strict conditions attached. So a November election it is then.

Don't be surprised if you see a pre election pact between the Tories and BP.
