But never outside of one of those organisations?

It is literally just hope, and an odd British exceptionalism viewpoint, and nothing else

Do you have no faith or belief in our own abilities. Are you really so frightened about going it alone. No shame if you are, but we have millions of other people who are not and they will look after you......

I just find it astonishing what is actually going on in our parliament, it's unprecedented, never seen anything like it.

Now talking about all the remainer MP's putting forward amendment after amendment to basically rewrite the deal, after general elections if a goverment doesn't have a clear majority we should run the vote until there is a clear majority, this situation we are in with our democracy is absurd.

Sorry, but I disagree. The implications of that deal are obvious, hence the outrage from the unionists, and I have a really hard time believing that the PM of the state who would benefit from it would not realise that.
The State who would benefit from it ? This isn't a game of winners and losers. He has done his best to avoid a hard border and that's what the deal (if passed) would achieve. That was his remit and responsibility.

The idea that this was all done to benefit the Republic (apart from avoiding the economic consequences of a no deal Brexit) is laughable. Sorry but you are way wide of the mark here.

I have plenty of faith in my own abilities, I also know my weaknesses and where I need support or help from others. That doesn't scare me as it seems to certain others. This, however, is not about my own abilities, or anyone else's individual abilities. It is about the country and whether it is better placed alongside strong partners or on its own. I have little faith that a country with little experience of the modern world alone is going to have a lot of success now it is alone and, on top of that, run by the absolute worst it can offer.

Indeed, I think if I was Boris I’d let them wreck every proposal. Eventually we will end up with a GE. Boris will win and he can do what he damn well pleases.......

I’m impressed, an actual sensible post. I can accept that having strong partners can be a huge bonus. But having 27 other partners can be a huge drag upon getting anything done. Even a simple trade deal requires the 27 others, plus a few regions, putting forward their disparate requirements. We will be free of this nonsense and will be able to make decisions and carry them out. The U.K. has lots of International experience, but we have been shackled by the EU, it’s tariffs and it’s overburdensome rules and regulations. Meanwhile the USA and China et al are going from strength to strength.....

Come on Pete, you've made your fair sure of nonsense posts, you just don't like being shown up as the silly sod.
What has it overburdened Britain with? What has it been shackled by?
Do you really think USA and China are countries Britain should look to for inspiration? Which parts of their global outlook and trade should it be recreating?

This is it though, all these amendements the remainers are trying to pass through the house, the Benn act etc, will mean jack sh*t, a government with a clear majority can reverse anything they have passed.

It's all utterly pointless.

Can they though? Do you think every Tory MP is going to be supportive of Johnson's bills?
Do you feel that parliament should never pass any laws as they can just be repealed?

We don’t need to look at the USA or China, they are what they are. We are just a small population country, with an array of financial, engineering , business and military capability. We have a world network of potential partners, who all want to work with the 5th largest economy. We have a global language and an established and respected law, used by many around the world. We are a stable country that encourages investment. We actually have a great deal going for us, the only thing holding us back are those who don’t know how to utilise what we have or are too frightened to do so. We are no mugs. We play way above our size, and for good reason, we are pretty good at whatever we wish to do. Why do you think a country such as Russia, many times our size and with every natural advantage, oil, minerals etc etc , lags behind our little U.K. It has nothing to do with the EU and everything to do with what we are and how inventive we can be.....
