How does a GE "clear the air", especially if it delivers a similar HoC makeup to the current one (or, can you imagine a small group of about 20 new BXP MPs voting down any deal because they demand their 'clean break'? That would really help resolve things...)

If Johnson is so convinced that "people just want to see Brexit done" and is sure that they want it done his way, then let him ask them. Throw it up there vs Remain and put an end to the political side of things. Then deal with the fallout in society (or let natual wastage take care of it over the next 20 years).

It would certainly clear quite a few current politicians out of the HoC....

it has to be said that Bercow has been utterly & totally disgraceful during all of this and has brought shame to the position of
The Speaker. He has disrespected the position on every level and sadly brought politics to a new low,

Defending the sovereignty of Parliament and its right to hold the Executive to account? I would say he's the first Speaker for generations to take the job seriously. Of course a government with a strong majority wouldn't care too much about it; but the FTPA has basically led us into this mess, and despite Tories and Leavers demanding everyone else let them have their way, it's not the Speaker's or Opposition's job to make it easier for the government to govern.

The fact that he's likely sabotaged his own future by sticking to his principles is something to be lauded, not described as 'bringing politics to a new low'. Anybody thinking otherwise is part of the problem they're complaining about.

Labour are going to get a massive kicking at the next election, Corbyn has been an anti-EU campaigner all his career, wanting to take back power off the EU.

He's a charlatan, with Keir starmer in his ear a staunch remainer, he's been told this is how you fight the Tories to win, so he's changed Labour into a remain party, turned his back on thousands of supporters who voted leave, and done a 180 on his own beliefs in order to try be PM.

Sooner Corbyn is gone the sooner Labour can genuinely think about winning an election again, when Starmer will probably be the next leader.

I'm a Labour supporter, but I've always viewed Corbyn as one of those leaders who gets up in the morning, has a look at what the flavour of the month is on social media, and then goes with that.

And little of this.

That would be my read of things. However, I heard something this morning about them having the implementing bill ready for tomorrow?

Some poor legal draughtsman got no sleep since Saturday if that is true.

Procedurally the implementing legislation should be in place and then the vote on this international agreement can take place.

Caveat is that I am not fully au fait with UK constitutional law - I studied my law in Dublin.

He is supposed to be impartial, and has shown that he isn’t.....

I know what you're saying, as a remainer I definitely get the feeling he's on my side.

He's simply following the rules.

If you are looking for someone to blame, blame Rees-Mogg for putting it through on the nod. An unforced error from an idiot.

How can he be "impartial"when he is attempting to maintain parliamentary tradition and "rules" when there is a conniving and devious and mistrusted executive, the likes of which have never been seen before.

He has done the same to three different executives on the trot, The last two specially while following his own blatantly Remain agenda. He will not be missed when he has gone and he won’t be missed within the HoL’s....
