Let me see...we could be a major part of a union of countries, standing up for our area against the huge countries like USA, India and China OR we can be a lap dog to USA while they feed us on scraps. Hmmm which. One. Do. I. Prefer... o_O

Look at it another way, Germany is financially stronger than the UK. Why don't they free themselves from the EU and create their own trade deals if it's a better way of life? Oh because it isn't. This is about one thing and one thing only, immigration.

For Germany, they wish to rule Europe, always have, and now they rule the EU which is second best. However if the U.K. makes a success of Brexit, as we will, watch France and Germany ditch the EU......

It's a bit late for me to go into major detail today, but Johnson has really put his opponents on the back foot over the past week or so, irrespective of what happens with the deal. Thats not to say if it fails there aren't major problems. Or that if it passes there will challenges re the BXP. However whenever they said "something up their sleeve" people wrongly assumed it was to do with no Deal, clearly it was to do with getting a deal.

He has moved away from the narrow lens of British constitutionalism and played the bigger picture. So far it looks to have united his party as far as he could have. In truth from about mid September he has done everything I'd have advised him of.

There are some serious questions for the left to answer here. If they treat him as a complete oaf, and continue to make mistakes, he and Cummins will punish them (it's what their strategy relies upon). Their really needs to be a big push for an election. Unless a serious effort is made for this, Johnson will grow stronger.

I'd finally say, don't rule out a deal tomorrow. Forget the projections/numbers etc. Politics, real politics is not about parliamentary arithmetic, it's about pressure and momentum being pursued. He has lots of that.

‘Always have’ - shall we unpack this a bit? Pre-EU what are you harking back to?

That first bit is a bit close to the bone! Perhaps there was a bit of that in the early days but seeing France has just as much power I don't think that is the only reason.

Eventually the EU will founder under it's own weight if it continues ever closer to a superstate, but I'd rather not take the pain on our own when if it does go pop then a trade deal will be immediately available and we will have the perfect Brexit. Good things come to those that wait.

Exactly......he’s playing a blinder......

For me the EU is acting like a previous era colonialist, ever expanding, integrating and harmonising. It will eventually bump up big style with Russia and I don’t wish to be part of it when it does. I’m quite happy being part of a little island minding its own business and looking after itself.....

It's ok until we need some other countries help. Who knows what will happen in future but Russia is not going to start on the EU. However if it can undermine and split the countries up then it becomes entirely possible of picking off the minnows.
