Just got back from a few days in Budapest surrounded by a few hundred inspiring young people from across Europe, and "where do you come from?" didn't come up once. Quite sad to be reminded of the little Englander mentality tbh.

The lads who run the place I buy my vape stuff from are Hungarian, and over the years, we have built a nice relationship. They were made up when I started saying Hello and Thank You in Hungarian!

....in respect of migration, I would point out the Governments abject management of non-EU citizens. Controls are in place, but it doesn’t stop them coming and it doesn’t stop them staying. If people think Brexit will result in strict control of EU citizens, I expect they’ll be disappointed with the reality.

People. Real, live, human beings. Can we stop referring to them as though they're vermin?

Don't get me wrong, there are good and bad people in every walk of life, but they're not good and bad because they're Hungarian. The sooner we start forgetting what it says on someone's passport and just treat them on their individual merits the better the world will be.

The longer story was that one lad, Benst, was pulled up on his English by some stuck up cow, who lobbed in a Brexit based comment. His English is better than mine. So, we got into a chat about this and that, and I decided to learn a few words of Hungarian as a result. Probably to excuse my shame that too many people have bought of this country as much as anything else if I am honest.

We're unbelievably lucky that English is the de-facto international language. The thing I was at was an EU event, so there were probably people from across Europe there, and they all spoke great English, and to be honest, probably wouldn't have gotten to where they are if they couldn't. Toss in the bus drivers, the hotel receptionists, the cafe staff, you know? The people who in Britain would be regarded as fairly low skilled, yet all speak a second language.

I have long held the view that if 95% of songs that I had ever heard were in French, (and 100% of the good ones) I would be pretty fluent in French.

Voulez vous couche avec moi, as Exhibit A.
