There is practically no difference between what we are hearing now has been agreed and what was agreed 2 years ago. Basically if the 'new' arrangement is accepted by the UK government the last 2 years have been a complete and utter waste of everyone's time.

EU could certainly have agreed the change 2 years ago or at any point since

As I said earlier, it's polishing a turd. Johnson is just hoping he'll be able to repackage it because he's a 'real' Brexiteer.

Johnson learned nothing from May. He fell into every single one of her red lines - even to the point of repeating a leave date in the face of all evidence to the contrary. Except he's somehow even worse because the actual law tells him he can't guarantee that we'll leave on that date.

He's useless. The Gylfi Sigurdsson of politicians.

The deal is a good one, we got most of the stuff we wanted, if it was that bad, why has Boris stuck with it. It was just the worst deal in the history of humanity due to the backstop

There is no deal that will satisfy an ardent no dealer or a remainer, but it's a better deal than anyone else was looking at

Because he has had to come up with something lest he look like he's submissive to Parliament and the EU.

It's one that will inevitably break up the union. But as Brexit will do that regardless then I agree with you - it's a "could be worse" deal.

But I'm left puzzled as to the point of leaving at all, as it pleases nobody and we'll be worse off for it.

For me, whatever gets through parliament I'll accept, but it will forever baffle me.

Yes, but it's important to remember she did trade away NI's sovereignty

Pre-negotiations, Ireland agreed with EU to a limited number of checks at ports in event of no deal. UK is now suggesting limited number of checks at ports for NI if there is no deal
The point I was making was regarding why an agreement like this wasn't proposed, when it clearly was and subsequently rejected by Theresa May.

While it seems pretty obvious what has moved to reach a possible deal, the key will be the detail in the legal text..

For me its a key aspect that most remainers believe we will be economically worse off

Corbyn is planning to spend £200B nationalising everything with some sort of EFTA deal

I'd agree its about the legal text, it was the legal text on backstop that made me realise the EU had made an error

I think the thing that has changed, is that UK has adopted the same setup as EU has, so the idea they are unworkable is going to be hard to sell

And he had the cheek to talk about 'surrender' from the other side lol lol lol lol lol

Ahh whatever, the softer the Brexit the better. If he gets a deal, he's gambled correctly the ERG will fall in line out of panic they'll get nothing at all, which is to be expected as they have no morals whatsoever - all they need to be reassured of is massive deregulation at the first opportunity once we're out.

No, what would only surprise me in the event a deal is passed is if the DUP really go along with a border in the Irish Sea. Their whole reason for existing being flushed down the toilet.

Long term, I think Johnson is ready to jettison Northern Ireland for Brexit - that's the end result of this deal on the table. And, by extension, Scotland.

But hey, we'll have 'independence' and blue passports, so it's all good.

On the basis that anything Joey approves of is almost certain to be terrible for the country, I hope you're wrong.
