Long term, I think Johnson is ready to jettison Northern Ireland for Brexit - that's the end result of this deal on the table. And, by extension, Scotland.

Remember when Liverpool were trying to catch up to Manchester United and they were acting like big boys but living on past glories that most of their fan base talked about, but never experienced. They were looking for the next thing to reclaim those past glories and went for something they thought would solve their problems, someone who had scored against their bitter enemies in Europe and would bring unfathomable success to them. There is practically no difference between what we are hearing now has been agreed and what was agreed 2 years ago. Basically if the 'new' arrangement is accepted by the UK government the last 2 years have been a complete and utter waste of everyone's time.
As I said earlier, it's polishing a turd. Johnson is just hoping he'll be able to repackage it because he's a 'real' Brexiteer.
Johnson learned nothing from May. He fell into every single one of her red lines - even to the point of repeating a leave date in the face of all evidence to the contrary. Except he's somehow even worse because the actual law tells him he can't guarantee that we'll leave on that date.
