But there is no deal so how can you negotiate a trade deal.
EU will decide what tariffs to impose on British imports and Britain will decide what tariffs to impose on EU imports
One puzzling thing though
During the foot and mouth epidemic the DUP (Paisley ) said that the people of Ulster were British but the cattle were Irish, how will that work in a no deal Brexit

Canada didn’t have any deal with the Eu, no other country on the planet has either, but still they can negotiate a trade deal with the Eu....

I cannot recall what the DUP or anyone else said about the foot and mouth epidemic, but I assume he meant that as there was a large amount of water between NI and the U.K. mainland the beef was of Irish stock the same as the beef in France, also separated by a large stretch of water, were French.....

As I said, being an NHS employee, my wife was among the pilot cohort so registered months ago. She's still not at all reassured having done so (and believe it or not, we don't discuss politics as much as you might imagine). Indeed, she's considering shelling out £1,500 for citizenship, and rest assured it's not due to any real desire to be 'British'.
That's your choice mate. I'd say you are wasting your money if you do.

Politicians lie. They all do. But I'm trying to think of a situation whereby this sort of arrangement would be withdrawn in the future and I can only think of perhaps an extreme government, such as fascist or communist, gained power. And in that case I'd probably leave the country myself.

A government with a -43 majority does not get to choose when it has an election.

Indeed. There was a bloke of the radio just now saying that Johnson is acting like a PM with a big majority, not a hung Parliament, and gently suggested that whoever is advising him, reminded him of that fact.

Indeed they don’t. But as they have no majority and no one else does either, shouldn’t we now have an election.....

Again you make a leap of logic based entirely around wanting to ram through Brexit. There's nothing wrong with an opposition holding a minority government in a terrible position until their electoral chances improve.

But he was right. Until you’ve actually seen the law how can it be followed. Additionally, if the opposition parties and the 21 newly formed independents wrote and voted in a law to say that the current government must rain nuclear bombs on Russia, the government of the day may just have another opinion. Now I do not have a full understanding of how governments can or cannot ignore anything passed by the HoC, but I’m pretty sure that if they attempted to break the law then it would immediately go to court.....

There are responsible people there; they've just been sidelined in their attempt to get a sensible trade deal and guarantee continued peace in N.I.
I'd be more inclined to take them seriously and think them responsible if they didn't spend half their time booing and hissing at each other. The HOC is less well behaved then GOT on a Sat night after a loss with the pubs shut!
