Partly some of the reason why leave voters are reluctant to say why they voted the way they did is because they think people will jump on it or have already determined the reason that suits their agenda.

If he does want to explain, let him explain his reasons without suggesting his only response will be ridicule or branded a racist*

*Usual caveats apply here.

I don't think we watching, with complete concern, believe that it was a race matter. All of us in EU MS are fed up with many things that are required by membership of the EU. I deal with these daily and grind my teeth as well as use many expletives.

However, there are many benefits that outweigh the bureaucratic that we endure and chief here is a tariff and border free access to nearly 600 million customers for products.

I am baffled that the UK electorate is not being asked, with full understanding of all pros and cons, to have another vote.

Your choice, and to me a very democratic one in the light of greater information and understanding.

Ditto.

I'm not ashamed to say I voted for Hitler back in the '30s. You have to understand, we didn't have the benefit of knowing he was a racist twonk that would make good on his threats, we just didn't like this 'League of Nations' idea and facing up to difficult home truths. The NSDAP, and the tabloid hero Mosley (who was playing a blinder) came along and redirected our anger towards the outsider - pretty much the 21st century ideal of the settled EU worker - teachers, nurses, carers, Amazon delivery workers. Innocent people trying to make a life for themselves in a possibly better place: educating our children, mopping our brows, wiping our elderly relatives' misdemeanours, and bringing us our sex toys*.

* Not personally, but I'll bet PeteBlue and Mrs PeteBlue have indulged. Wrapped in a tricolor.

We didn't concern ourselves with US trade because at the time they were a freedom-loving people. At the time.

Without invoking Godwin, it's always worth remembering that when Chamberlain returned from Munich, he was treated like a hero, with some even suggesting he should get the Nobel prize. Thank goodness we were big enough back then to admit we had got things monumentally wrong rather than digging our heels in and doubling down on one of the worst decisions in British history.

Is there anything at all about the EU any of you guys don't like ? Your posts come across like its a perfect entity.

Any criticisms at all ?

If we'd started out with that attitude we'd have got a hell of a deal out the EU, not bent over as we have been for 3 years under May.

At what point in time would you have him started certainly since the last election there would be no change in negotiating outcome domestically, the Tory government simply don't have the numbers.
And even with a stinking majority the fact remains the EU hold the integrity of EU union higher than economic cost Brexiteers champion about, they will take the hit of us just walking.

This may be why people are getting a bit hot and bothered. You've got practically half the current cabinet saying barely a few months ago that what's happening now would be a disgrace for Brexit and a disgrace for democracy in Britain, yet it's happening because as Mr Wallace clearly says - politics.

Surely will play a part in up and court cases. Also Johnson has misled the Queen, which is no biggy in what the Queen can do, again demonstrates what Johnson is like, a chancer.

EU has been very bad at Public Relations, it's allowed domestic politicians take credit for its work, and allowed itself to be blamed for domestic politicians policies.

Freedom of movement is a capitalist construct and has been misused, in the main poorly managed domestically. However, the numbers of people coming into the UK are not going to change much, deal or no deal, we have an ageing population...

The EU started a push towards federalism, especially after the last financial crash - with the ECHR over ruling what we could do in our country. However, this isn’t something that’s just happened to us - plenty of other countries have levelled the same criticism.

We, rather than attempt to work with others to fix small issues now seem content to wreck a good thing.

It’s like destroying your house because you don’t like the bathroom fittings.

It's really not. It's a basic facet of individual liberty.

Thanks for that, interesting point about the public relations, hadn't thought of that before.

I would say that's the case about liberalism in general. As Hans Rosling famously pointed out, the improvement has been truly remarkable, yet it's easy to forget that because both the media live and breath by negative stories (the famous mantra of 'if it bleeds, it leads...'), and of course opposition political parties have to portray the present in a negative way so that they can say how much they'd improve matters. It results in a hugely distorted view of the world.

Sorry but it is, it's mainly circumstantial, however, I have experience of a fair few companies purposely seeking out people whose English is very basic, for no other reason of exploiting them in work. Not that excludes British people either...

Also upto several years ago you could not get 2 calls into any phone on immigration, before some company owner would boast about using a recruiting company anywhere but the UK, because British people are fickle because British people are lazy, British people know their rights...

Freedom of movement has been abused. It used to drive crazy because I knew where this was leading...
