It gets us out of the EU which was the intention of the referendum. Leave means leave remember...

No, it does not get us out of EU if we are trapped (potentiallypermanently) in the EU Customs Union.

Can anyone explain it any simpler for the hard of thinking amongst us please.

Oh dear, the old immigration/race card.

There were around 200,000 Poles in Ireland pre-2008 economic crash and the number now is around 125,000. That's around 2.5% of the population, a much higher figure per capita of population than Britain.

We also have serious law and order problems in our cities already and they are not immigration related.

Must get your facts right and try harder Nigel.

Give it time. Give it time. We had all these discussions in UK many years ago. Didn't seem to help.

I am sure Ireland will manage immigration perfectly and you won't have a single issue - not.

We said the same in UK in the 70's and look at the mess the UK is in now.

Don't think it can happen to you?

Yeah, we said that too!
Richard, Ireland isn’t existing in a parallel universe 40 years behind the U.K., we had our own 1970s which were rather character building to say the least.

I am content that we will continue to gladly accept the contribution of our New Irish and your dystopian vision of our future will remain in your head.

Why dont you like foreign people mate?

I keep being told by Leave voters that they're clogging up the NHS (they're the backbone of the staff) and they only come here to claim benefits (they're net contibutors to the economy).

Another annoying factoid for the Leavers is that the native-born population of the country is getting increasingly older on average, living longer and having smaller families. Without an external stimulus to the younger demographics this is going to put a even more ridiculous burden on the working population to support the pensions of the retired. The simple fact is that this country needs a continuous influx of younger, working migrants.

Oh whoops, there I go again making arguments based on statistics and logic.

I know, its almost like they have been told immigrants are a drain and take benefits and stuff by someone. And believed them.

Or that we should take back control of our borders, (we have control), and that immigrants get free everything the minute they pitch up. (they dont). And somehow that is the EUs fault. (it isnt).

I've read this somewhere before so not taking credit, but given just how rarely Leavers seem to interact with reality, can't we just pay off the people that create the tabloid front pages to all splash on a single day "Official - Boris Gets Us Out" with a big celebratory picture, and then just get on with our lives in a country that actually functions?

Every time a Leaver comes up to you and tells you how good things are now we've 'left' you just have to humour them, like the rest of the special kids at school.

And we issue a camera and guidebook to all EU citizens living here so they can allay suspicions by pretending to be tourists.

Happens so often. Quiz a leave voter as to their reasons and they deflect and avoid before admitting they just don’t like foreigners.
