I'm sorry that I took your points as part of a larger narrative if it wasn't meant like that.

However, I do maintain that you have no proof that politicians in general just use this as part of a grander scheme. Even if they did, they are not about to become our unchallenged PM. It frustrates me that the whole 'well they're just as bad' is some form of argument and I apologise if I took yours to be more than it was

I’ve held visits from senior members of the civil service, as well as the cabinet and shadow cabinet. The words “pompous” and “not arsed” was used very frequently after each visit. I sit on a working group chaired by the director general, border operations at HMRC. On top of that I’ve been part of a working group that has devised the imported food process operations in the event of a no deal eu exit.

I’ve got got pretty good understanding of what’s being accepted and rejected, so I know what they’re interested in and what they’re not

I also have regular interactions with politicians on both sides of the divide and from other countries. There are over 600 of them in the UK and it is utterly ridiculous to suggest they are all the same wether they are frontbenchers or backbenchers. If we are taking personal experience, I will regularly take the views of people dealing with 'outsiders' with a massive pinch of salt

There’s a massive difference between having interactions and recommending something for it to be outline ignored by members who are trying to push a narrative...on both sides of the bench.

I’d love to be able to share half the stuff I know, I do my best to release stuff that isn’t to sensitive. But having signed 3 NDAs I’m more than happy to hold back.

I would expect a lot of effort and interest from those wanting both a no-deal and divergence, not so much from those outside of government who are putting their energy into avoiding that situation.

Aww, g'won g'won. G'won G'won G'won G'won. G'won G'won G'won G'won G'won G'won.
Quite! And while they go on, the pound is quietly crashing. Just got my UK state pension in my bank and it's 29€ less (yes I live in France) than 2 months ago. That's about 3% down.
The pundits talk of £/€ parity or even £/$ parity in the event of a no deal brexit.
The only people who will benefit from that are the rich ERG lot and their supporters and of course Big Corp. USA.
So continue talking by all means but we need positive action, like a scrapping of Brexit, before the UK breaks up and little England slips into anonymity.

That doesnt look or sound very, er, democratic. Interesting what some of our resident unicorn hunters might say about that.
Doubtful mate. Did you read the article i posted/linked on the previous page? Wall of txt i know, but it explains the hubris regarding the implementation of the referendum quite well imo.

A warm welcome to the new President of the EU Commission Ms Von der Leyen, the first female to hold this office, who was ELECTED by the European Parliament today.

Hopefully she will be a vonderful success and put Bungling Boris in his place.

Joking apart but holiday time arrives and the £ takes a tumble against the Euro =£1.11 its been upto higher than that but tumbles in the holiday period =just call me a cynic but it is a bit blatant to rip the holidaymaker off? or in your case your pension .....? its been higher than that? the £ seems to be holding v the dollar yet they will blame Brexit I suppose?
