The Japanese now joining the throng saying a no deal would be terrible for their companies based here, and that no trade negotiations with them would begin until Britain is out of the EU.

Varadkar and the ROI are waking up to the very real effect of a no deal upon the Irish economy. So far Varadkar has played with his big mates against the U.K. thinking that he will ‘win’ something, either a United Ireland or improved standing within the EU. However the EU are thinking that no deal may just happen, and the Germans and a few others will get a bit miffed about the effects upon their economies and job losses defending the ‘backstop’. The ROI are doing the numbers and the numbers don’t look good. The backstop drives the no deal and the no deal drives unemployment within the ROI....this is not a time for smirking and giving the Brits a kicking, this is a time for really understanding what is about to happen......
If Varadkar had been over the U.K. then you would now be out of the EU. He has stuck by his principals and above all worked to protect Ireland’s interests by articulating the benefits that EU membership has brought us.

You are confusing this with ‘kicking the Brits’ when it is nothing of the sort. Articulating what is best for our country and defending the Good Friday Agreement is exactly what I expect of our leader.

Henig said: "For our car producers - 122,000 work manufacturing cars and automotive equipment - they are going to be hit. A huge percentage of those will go overseas."

But rather than attempt to dispute what the expert had to say, Francois claimed that "the fundamental point is if they're going to be hit, at least it would be our choice."

Somewhat surprised by his claim, Adam Boulton drily responded: "Yes I know but if it's your choice to blow your head off, you don't take it, at least very often."

Ireland looses either way with brexit. There is no winning in anything for Ireland. We're deciding what animals can we pull from the barn before it comes down on top of us.

Your lack of understanding of Irish politics is growing. Varadkar and his party have no interest, nor ever have, in a united Ireland. We had a civil war about it.

Ireland did the numbers on brexit before the vote. That's why Ends Kenny was on a 26 nation tour of the EU while Cameron was moving out of 10 Downing st.

The ROI should have been able to do very well out of Brexit. You should have been able to pick up any UK businesses that wished to keep a foot within the EU while continuing to trade with the U.K. This nonsensical EU driven agenda of completely ignoring a future trading agreement, while putting barriers (now even suggested as physical) in the way of trade is what is doing it.....

If the unicorns were real and the uplands were sun lit then Ireland would do reasonably well out of Brexit.

However, he is welcome to theoretically kick the little Englanders in Britain. Which I suggest an ever increasing queue, so best get in line behind me!

Good Friday agreement, enshrined in international law, if Brexiteers don't get it now, stupid is the only definition that best describes them.

Secondary to Good Friday is single market its the essence of the EU and it's members, if Brexiteers don't get this now, imbelic is their position.
