And yet the EU always point to the war as a reason for the EU to even exist. Can’t have it both ways surely......

1. You definitely can. They are not equivalents. A divided Europe went to war, the united Europe has not. They are not, however, saying because some people once won a war they are now forever imbued with some bulldog spirt. Believing that unity and community helps stop conflict, and trying to encourage that, is different to trying to invoke a spirit from a war over 70 years ago.

2. Even though the above is true, they don't always point to it, they provided many other reasons for the EU to exist.

I’m not a fan of the current “WW2 spirit equals Brexit mindset”.

The war was fought to prevent division, not encourage it.

According the Telegraph, (yeah, coincidence) some Merican who sold his virtual reality software to Facebook at the age of 21, for $3 BILLION, and does clever stuff with the US military, reckons he could sort this border stuff in NI pretty easily.

You decide.

edit. Palmer Luckey if google is your friend. But with that name, had to check the date.

I actually met this guy a couple of times. Sat in a meeting with him and others. Got to talk to him. Sound chap massive ego.

He certainly has the finanical clout to come up with a solution not to mention some of the tech.

But easily he says, nah i doubt it.

Some of his hardware is fantastic but its primarily drone tech. He does do sensors and automation type stuff like i mentioned last year in the border thread so he is further ahead than most. But if he were to seriously look at it he will find its not as easy as he makes out.

It won't be cheap though. He mainly pitches his tech and ideas to government and military now becuase he makes a lot more feom them. He will fleece anyone willing to take his ideas on

But it is this type of guy you would need. Like i said sound chap but big ego.

Yes with the use of drones flying around the border.

I suspect it would become like clay pigeon shooting in Armagh.
