Come now, you have complained many times on this forum about the way the democratically elected Conservative government are behaving. You can't have it both ways
As an aside, can you think of any other field where a consumer (for want of a better word) follows a course of action based upon lies to then have no recourse? I don't want to get into who told bigger lies here, but the fact remains that lies were told and votes cast on the back of them. In what other field would such an arrangement be binding for the consumer?
All the stops are pulled out, by the vast majority of the media and the financial institutes, both domestically and internationally, to get the Conservatives 'democratically' elected, including turning a blind eye to their lies, constant and big. Even when the are proven after they have been elected. The Conservatives manifesto 'promises', and the hidden agenda, are not held to account the same way as Labour's are. And when people oppose what the Tories do. They are told 'it is the democratic will of the people'
'Consumerism' has nothing to do with the referendum vote. If you are talking about lies during the referendum, they are equally culpable.
The electorate voted out and the political establishment are dragging their feet, riding roughshod over those that voted to leave the EU, because they don't like the result. It seems the manta is, 'you can have democracy as long as you vote the way we want'. It appears that the 'democratic will of the people' is not really 'the democratic will of the people' because they fell for the 'lies' of the leavers. Even though, the in side equally told big lies.
Before the vote, Osbourne threatened those voting to leave with a draconian budget in an attempt to 'win' the vote. Incidentally, there was no mention in the 2015 Tory manifesto, or his last budget to lower Corporation tax. And who will pay for the tax shortfall? The working poor, the vulnerable, the disabled and poor generally.
